The little sageuk that could readies itself for a finale on Monday in a balance scale of what was so wonderful and what could have been more. KBS drama The Tale of Nokdu has only one episode left, the final episode 16, airing this Monday due to a schedule disruption that upended the usual odd-even airing pairs. That made last … Continue reading →
I’m truly at a loss for words. Every K-ent suicide from the first that I covered as a blogger (that would be Park Yong Ha in 2010) to the latest with Sulli last month in October, has always been difficult to process. Every time I wonder if that person could have been saved, and then if they were saved before … Continue reading →
tvN is putting more genre and serious fare in the Mon-Tues time slot, there’s subway cop investigative drama Catch the Ghost right now and next comes teaching school drama Black Dog in early December. Black Dog reminds me so much of J-doramas as the teacher inspiration and growth genre is done much more frequently there, and of course remade to … Continue reading →
Remember how mad we all were with the ending of Lee Seung Gi and Suzy’s first drama pairing together Gu Family Book? Remember how mad we all were at many other dramas with genuinely terrible endings, some ruining otherwise ok fare and others creating a conclusion in line with how bad that drama was already. Well get ready to have … Continue reading →
It’s nice to see a rising actor vault to the level of being able to hold a fan meeting and such is the case with Jang Ki Yong. I, and probably many drama viewers, noticed him playing the rough baddie in My Ahjusshi because he was so awful and hot at the same time lol. He’s since gone on to … Continue reading →
K-actress Song Hye Kyo celebrated her 38th birthday on November 22, or 39 in Korean age since you are 1 at birth. There are two high profile congrats on her birthday, the more personal one is celebrating with good friend and same label mate Yoo Ah In. She got an amazing bouquet of white roses from him and a shout … Continue reading →
I feel like Song Joong Ki will always be the center of public and media scrutiny for the rest of his career. It’s hard to overcome both a hyped beyond belief shot into super stardom with Descendants of the Sun and subsequent even more high profile marriage and divorce with A-lister Song Hye Kyo. 2019 was a spectacularly crappy year … Continue reading →
The last few episodes of Extraordinary You have been extraordinarily dull, slow moving on narrative and a lot of the same old same old interactions. It gives me time to focus on second male lead Lee Jae Wook purely from a clinical observation – he is really far and away the best actor in the entire ensemble and it shows … Continue reading →
I’m going on a limb and sharing a completely contradictory opinion – I think When the Camellia Blooms is a very cohesive and well-written and acted drama but it’s just not an engaging watch. I think a lot of South Korea disagrees because the final episode broke 23% ratings and honestly any prime time that drama breaks 10% nowadays is … Continue reading →
Savor this moment ladies, you’ll remember where you were when Kim Woo Bin made his shiny return to his entertainment career. I’ve been a huge fan for his entire career, this funky looking lunk has talent as tall as his frame and unfortunately had to take a prolonged hiatus due to a serious medical scare involving cancer. His break came … Continue reading →
I don’t think they look alike or even have the same acting styles but in the early days of their career I kept getting Lee Se Young and Chae Soo Bin confused. Probably because they were always playing the bitchy or mean second female lead around the same time period, but now both have gotten their female lead breaks and … Continue reading →
I totally forgot that K-drama land was prepping a drama remake of the hit movie Miss Granny which came out in 2015. Probably due to how long this is taking, nearly 4 years since the movie came out and 3 years since the remake was announced. Initial casting news was that Kim So Hyun had been tapped for the female … Continue reading →
Looks like Kim Jae Wook really enjoyed working in the cable network world because he’s in talks to comeback in 2020 with another cable drama. OCN is prepping Train and is courting Kim Jae Wook for the male lead, with the drama about parallel universes. Kim Jae Wook plays a police detective whose love is killed in his universe so … Continue reading →
