I realize Hana Yori Dango (Boys Before Flowers) has been in the news a lot recently, thanks to the high profile Taiwan and China collaboration remake Meteor Garden 2018 and also J-dorama adapting the sequel Hana Nochi Hare (Hanadan Next Season) which just started airing recently. I’m unexpectedly loving Hana Nochi Hare (seriously, it’s adorable and charming in the Hanadan … Continue reading →
We’re almost midway through 2018 and it’s time to check in on the production of wee ones in K-ent. K-actress Park Han Byul delivered a healthy baby boy on April 30th, her first with her non-celebrity fiancee, and the two took it another step further by officially registering their marriage. Married for many years celeb couple Eugene and Ki Tae … Continue reading →
It’s good to be K-actress Kim Ji Won this week as she has not just one high profile K-drama offer on her hands but is toggling two now. K-ent is reporting that Kim Ji Won has been offered the female lead for upcoming sageuk drama Asadal written by the production team of Tree with Deep Roots and Six Flying Dragons. … Continue reading →
I’m a busy person in real life already but I can’t image toggling two full time day jobs the way Lee Jun Ki just did last week. In the midst of filming his upcoming K-drama Lawless Lawyer, he jetted off to Japan for a fan meeting and looked every inch the Hallyu star. I love love his comfortable and cool … Continue reading →
I felt like the first third of 2018 just flew by but for some reason the month of April is dragging. I thought we’d be in May by now but actually it’s still another day left. tvN fantasy-tinged romance About Time doesn’t arrive until May 21 but it’s doing a very concerted promo effort already even if I’m not particularly … Continue reading →
I think tvN is doing the right thing and hopefully networks adopt this as a rule forever. Currently airing hit Wed-Thurs drama My Ahjusshi (My Mister) will not air this week as the production scrambles to catch up on live filming. The drama had to re-film many early scenes when supporting actor Oh Dal Soo was abruptly stripped from the … Continue reading →
A career with a clear expiration date such as an athlete eventually arrives at that juncture of when is the right time to hang up the hat. Stars can evolve their careers as they ago, for the most part, but sometimes there are pitfalls too big to ever recover from. That’s what I feel about singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong, the … Continue reading →
I see a all the little nuances about Lee Seung Gi that I love so much in the picture above, and really in his appearance at his Taiwan fanmeeting last weekend in Taipei. There’s of course the consummate performer, this time dressed as a prince charming all in white, only thing missing is an all white horse with a flowy … Continue reading →
It’s official, K-actor Jung Hae In is the current It Boy of K-dramas and Suzy remains the current It Girl still. The voting has ended for the Popularity Award for this year’s Baeksang Arts Awards to be held on May 3, 2018. The winners have been announced as Jung Hae In in the actor category with 37% of all votes, … Continue reading →
I’m not triggered enough to care but this doesn’t sound like a good casting or interesting drama. KBS has picked up horror romance Lovely Horribly and is in talks with Song Ji Hyo and Park Shi Hoo as the leads. The drama centers around the female lead screenwriter who has the supernatural ability of making her script scenarios happen in … Continue reading →
Masters of selfies know angles well now so I expect professional photographers to now only know the good angles but endeavor to only take pictures from the best angles. So it’s with a sense of confused hilarity to stumble across K-actress Han Ga In‘s latest Vogue Korea pictorial released in time to promote her upcoming drama Mistresses. The top picture … Continue reading →
There’s a one week gap on SBS Mon-Tues with the end of Shall We Kiss First and the start of Wok of Love (Greasy Melo) to be filled by a 2-episode short drama Exit. That means the Chinese food porn crossed with K-drama rom-com Wok of Love doesn’t premiere until May 7th, and until then I’ll just snack some more … Continue reading →
I’m currently on J-dorama kick and boy does it feel like a much needed palate cleanser between my steady courses of K-dramas. That makes for a nice dovetail into the upcoming K-drama remake of one of my favorite J-doramas Rich Man, Poor Woman. The drama Rich Man will be airing on MBN and stars idol-actor Suho and K-actress Ha Yeon … Continue reading →
