I’ve adored idol-actor Yook Sung Jae since Who Are You: School 2015, and even though he doesn’t have any scenes (so far) with guest starring Kim So Hyun in currently airing tvN drama Goblin it’s still a perfect canvas for his talents. He’s young and brash, a breath of energy when the drama can sometimes slow down to a crawl … Continue reading →
Looks like K-ent is back in the races with respect to wedding bell news, what with the Chinese-speaking entertainment world deluge of weddings last year. This will be a great month of January and a happy 2017 for long dating Korean acting couple Ryu Soo Young and Park Ha Sun. The couple announced that they will be tying the knot … Continue reading →
The new year of 2017 is certainly off to a good start with respect to the entertainment industry, no bad news and now a very happy news to share. TW-actress and producer Ruby Lin gave birth on January 6th to her first child with TW-actor husband Wallace Huo. Ruby announced the happy news by posting on her SNS with a … Continue reading →
I’m getting major déjà vu vibes from the previews for Introverted Boss (Sensitive Boss), the upcoming workplace comedy drama on tvN airing on Mon-Tues after Rude Miss Young Ae season 15. It reminds me so much of the mood and feels from both Another Oh Hae Young and Marriage Not Dating, and it’s not just because there are so many … Continue reading →
I definitely have a soft spot for Legend of the Blue Sea, putting up with so much poor plotting and character development for the little bits that work. Right now I care about Joon Jae reuniting with his poor mom, and thank god the end of episode 15 got us right to that brink as long as there isn’t a … Continue reading →
China’s Sohu streaming portal, one of the largest and also the bidding winner in getting exclusive streaming rights to many of the high profile K-dramas of 2016, held a hilarious and pretty on point awards ceremony of its own this week. The portal released an awards video of the 2nd Annual Golden Kimchee Awards celebrating and chastising the best and worst … Continue reading →
It’s a treat adoring an entertainer like Aaron Yan since he always has something to offer. He’s basically active all year round split between his acting and singing career. The former was pretty shaky when he first dipped a toe in but has since seen marked improvement that is less future award winning acting god and more delivering the emotional … Continue reading →
Episode 11 of Goblin is coming up which means only 6 episodes left of this addicting fantasy drama. Kim Eun Sook has kept her world building tight so far and has said that this drama was years in the writing for her and the conclusion will not be a narrative letdown for the audience. I believe her, she hasn’t thrown … Continue reading →
This looks like a promising enough office place situational comedy, and one that isn’t currently all over the networks like medical or legal dramas. Upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama Chief Kim released first stills recently showcasing male leads Namgong Min as the titular Chief Kim and idol-actor Junho of 2PM as his office rival. A year ago this drama would have … Continue reading →
If 2016 turned out to be the year of Gong Yoo‘s career resurgence with a hit drama and movies, hopefully 2017 will be the same for Hyun Bin. First up is the January release of his movie Cooperation with Yoo Hae Jin and Yoona, a North-South Korean buddy cop movie that looks mighty entertaining from the trailers. He’s also reviewing … Continue reading →
Even without SBS drama Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim being a big ratings hit, MBC is still woefully bringing in negligible viewership for its Mon-Tues drama Night Light in the low single digits. There’s still another month to go before the arrival of a replacement quarterback in MBC’s stalwart genre the traditional sageuk. Formerly known as Rebel Hong Gil Dong or … Continue reading →
The 2016 year end K-drama awards for the big three networks came and went last weekend, smack dab in the middle of me heading off for my trans-pacific flight, taking said long flight, traveling back home from long flight, and then being massively jetlagged from said flight. All in all I lost 36 hours and also the ability to collect … Continue reading →
It feels like Legend of the Blue Sea is treading water, which is such a shame because the narrative crescendo ought to be building but the writing remains subpar for a drama with such big name leads and publicity. I enjoy Joon Jae and Shim Chung’s relationship progression into sweetly dating, but her character remains hard to connect with in … Continue reading →
