Friday’s isn’t just the start of the weekend but now also heralding the first dose of my weekly crack drama Goblin. Last week’s first two episodes already broke the premiere ratings record for cable network tvN last held by the wildly successful Answer Me 1988, episode 1 got 6.32% ratings while episode 2 jumped to 7.9%. That increase now seems … Continue reading →
South Korea’s much too long and way too crazy for real world national nightmare is finally over – this Friday the Parliament voted overwhelmingly 234-56 to impeach President Park Geun Hye. The impeachment will immediate suspend her from office while the Prime Minister takes over in the interim, and the Parliament has 180 days to make the impeachment vote final. … Continue reading →
The holidays are for shiny festive adornments and bling bling jewelry certainly fits that bill. It would be great if simply wearing the same elegant and youthful Swarovski pieces as modeled by Park Shin Hye in the latest 1st Look pictorial will make us look as fetching. 2016 is ending on yet another career high note year for Park Shin … Continue reading →
TGIF takes on new meaning for me for the next 7 weeks as tvN airs the fantasy drama Goblin on Fridays, and with the college football season done for the year then Saturdays is also devoted to another helping of Goblin in the weeks to come. The network dropped two sets of new drama stills for this Friday’s episode 3, … Continue reading →
Playing an iconic character, one as distinct and memorable as Lee Jun Ki‘s version of the Bu Bu Jing Xin 4th prince in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, may make it difficult for audiences to adjust to a transition to another persona. But for the specific career breadth and depth of of Lee Jun Ki, he’s been the master chameleon … Continue reading →
I’m not sure what the real takeaway is from Song Hye Kyo‘s newest ad campaign for the super hi-tech Dyson hair dryer the Supersonic. I know it’s supposed to be how awesome and ahhhhmazing this newfangled hair dryer is supposed to be, but I think it’ll end up being how Song Hye Kyo embodies hair goals and no one will … Continue reading →
Chalk it up to the best cameo so far in the cameo heavy Park Ji Eun penned Legend of the Blue Sea. So far there’s been Krystal, Kim Sung Ryung, Ahn Jae Jong, Hong Jin Kyung, Park Jin Joo, and Cha Tae Hyun, all within the first 6 episodes, but episode 7 brought the previous SBS Wed-Thurs drama Incarnation of … Continue reading →
I cannot stop laughing at the cohabitation antics in Goblin, it makes me pause and chuckle randomly during the day as the perfect distraction. The Goblin asking for fashion and accessories advice from the Grim Reaper and punking him afterwards for not assisting. The Grim Reaper’s song and dance about the Goblin’s underpants, borrowing so smartly from the classic Korean … Continue reading →
The high quality raw ingredients are there so it’s even more frustrating that screenwriter Park Ji Eun isn’t doing more with the scoundrel conmen trio of her leads in Legend of the Blue Sea. There are moments of brilliance such as Lee Min Ho‘s Joon Jae pulling off the reversal on the odious hospital vice-president, that was an epic acting … Continue reading →

Happy tidings and well wishes are pouring forth as Chinese entertainment was hit with the soft lob of a love rocket. C-actress Tang Yan and C-actor Luo Jin have confirmed long running suspicion/fanship dream of a romantic relationship, making it Tang Yan’s first confirmed boyfriend since her very messy and very public split with TW-actor Roy Qiu four years ago. The … Continue reading →
Cast chemistry is firing on all cylinders in the first two episodes of Goblin, even supporting and side characters like the little boy version of Yook Sung Jae and Lee El as the mysterious old woman/hottie in red are eye-catching. The only thing not seen in the first two episodes is any interaction between the second leads Lee Dong Wook … Continue reading →
Light pastel colored hair has been quite popular in Asia this year, but seeing the success and fails of the various attempts convinces me to appreciate without attempting. TW-actress and singer Rainie Yang rocked soft purple for her album comeback, and C-actress Crystal Liu did an amazing silver mane in a pictorial with her Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles … Continue reading →
