After releasing the list of current most popular K-dramas in China, polling site Vlinkage is back with the Top 30 list of most popular Korean male and female stars, respectively. Some are long time regulars on any Korean star popularity list while others are a surprise to me but adds diversity to this list. On the male side, the most … Continue reading →
There’s a wonderfully comforting vibe about Entertainer and it’s not something easily explainable. I just get the feels with the teasers and stills, and now the official drama posters seal the deal. Love, love, love the slightly retro colors and a square sentiment around it. Ji Sung looks so earnest as the fallen music man trying to reclaim his industry … Continue reading →
Now that Descendants of the Sun is over, Song Joong Ki‘s entertainment career is going to look a whole lot different in the near future. There is no word on his next drama but he has a movie lined up, and he’s certainly going to get his pick of roles and CFs. I still don’t think he projects a very … Continue reading →
The relative lull of the last few months will soon heat back up for Suzy once upcoming KBS drama Uncontrollably Fond with Kim Woo Bin airs this June. It’s so weird still to witness the extent of her popularity in Korea, moreso than talent alone merits, but then I like her so much that the expected blow back also seems … Continue reading →
I love tasteful sexiness and the newest big names celebrity fashion campaign hits both notes for me. Japanese pop queen Hamasaki Ayumi is the new face of famed Italian lingerie brand La Perla for a collection tailored for Japanese tastes. Ayu has been the face of Japanese pop fashion for nearly twenty years now so this pairing is both logical … Continue reading →
There’s a saying that kids grow like weeds, not as a negative connotation but a simile for how they sprout so quickly. It’s been a pleasure watching yet another round of this occur before our eyes as three very talented Korean actress child actresses have been vetted as nearly all grown up. The three Kims, so to speak, have dominated … Continue reading →
With the conclusion of Descendants of the Sun it’s a perfect time to check in with the popularity of K-dramas in China and see where this newest ratings breaker resides. Polling website Vlinkage just released the Top 30 Most Popular K-dramas in China list as of April 2016 and it’s rare for me to feel like this is one accurately … Continue reading →
I wonder if there is too much good things going on with late summer sageuk Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. It can’t be a good thing to ramp up expectation this high all thanks to a one-two-three punch of excellent casting. Park Bo Gum is inked to play the male lead, Yook Sung Jae is reportedly onboard as the second male … Continue reading →
Love in the air, along with falling cherry blossoms and a love charm for added measure. The first teaser is out for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama Lucky Romance, making a complete tonal shift for the network once Goodbye Mr. Black says goodbye to audiences in a few more weeks. Starring ratings bringer Hwang Jung Eum as a supremely superstitious girl … Continue reading →
Rejoice drama lovers, for the Big curse is nearly over! Since the debacle with Big, the Hong Sisters rebounded with at least one hit drama in The Master’s Sun, but male lead Gong Yoo stayed far from television like a hypochondriac from a kid’s play zone. It’s been four long years but the wait is now worth it because Gong … Continue reading →
The first look at jTBC‘s fantasy sageuk Mirror of the Witch is totally up my alley and delivers a huge sigh of relief. Kim Sae Ron looks amazing as the abandoned princess turned witch, which if you asked me is the Eastern myth equivalent of Sleeping Beauty who was taken away from her princess life and raised as a forest … Continue reading →
There’s certainly validity to the statement that all babies are cute. But even within the universal cute there are gradations, and TW-actress Sonia Sui‘s little baby son is so cute he’s basically off the chart. Sonia and her non entertainment industry hubby Tony Hsieh welcomed little Max to the world last August and the little seven month old tyke has … Continue reading →
I feel light as a feather writing this recap for the final episode 16 of Descendants of the Sun, a journey that has been equal parts fun and frustrating. It’s nice that both aspects were in play in this last episode but neither side dominated the other, with DotS heading off into the sunset with a soft touch akin to the … Continue reading →
