Don’t get typecast Namgoong Min! I have major fondness for SBS drama The Girl Who Sees Smells, despite a story that mostly made no sense and bumbling police work, the acting and chemistry of the cast made up the deficiencies and turned it into a fun watch for me. One standout was the chef character played by Namgoong Min, always … Continue reading →
This is fantastic news, however much it still requires follow through of a yet unknown project. Actor-singer Jang Geun Seok has stated that he will be coming back as an actor next year in 2016. In what capacity is yet unknown, a drama would be my preference but a movie isn’t a bad choice if the K-netizens still haven’t quite … Continue reading →
This is definitely a pairing of K-drama titans, and probably just in the nick of time what with the industry in need of a mega-epic-heyday returning type of hit with the traditional viewing audience. PD Lee Byung Hoon and screenwriter Choi Wan Kyu are teaming up for an epic weekend sageuk airing on MBC, taking over after My Daughter Geum … Continue reading →
You know, this actually doesn’t look half-bad. The preview is out for Korean-Chinese collaboration web drama High End Crush, starring Jung Il Woo, Jin Se Yeon, and Bora of Sistar, which will premiere exclusively on Chinese web portal Sina starting in late October. The rom-com is the definition of short and sweet, airing for 20-episodes at just 15 minutes a … Continue reading →
C-writer/producer Guo Jingming has been flying high for well over a decade in C-ent, thanks to popular novels and later adaptations into even more popular hits like the Tiny Times movie series. His first novel Ice Fantasy is currently getting a C-drama adaptation with Feng Shao Feng and Victoria Song, but the bigger attention is focused on his self-produced 3D … Continue reading →
This is certainly a depressing way to get some press, and even the old adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity doesn’t seem to apply here as I can’t see an upside. K-ent media is addressing the long running ratings woes that have plagued KBS, above and beyond the general ratings depressed landscape among all the broadcasters. … Continue reading →
I’ll take this casting news with my foot on the optimistic side, overall there are more things going right than bemoaning things not being ideal. Upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs legal drama Remember, to follow after The Village (Achiara’s Secret), has added two more faces to join confirmed male lead Yoo Seung Ho. He’ll be pairing up with noona Park Min Young … Continue reading →
The movie gods clearly know how to whet my appetite for upcoming sageuk movie The Joseon Magician – more Yoo Seung Ho, please! The movie is part Joseon era royal politics and part road trip romance movie, with Go Ara‘s Joseon princess traveling to the Qing dynasty for her arranged marriage only to encounter love along the way with a … Continue reading →
I still remember when I posted about screenwriter Park Hye Ryun‘s next drama a few months ago, and the ensuing debate in the comments section over what thematic element based on the title Page Turner. I naturally assumed it was a piano/music genre drama, but got lots of readers saying it could just as easily be about novels and writing. … Continue reading →
It’s the annual time where the elusive Gong Yoo emerges from the private sphere back to the public spotlight in order to promote an acting project. He has been doing one movie a year for the last few years, which is better than a movie every five years like Won Bin, but still much less than I want in order … Continue reading →
These two young ladies are soooooo adorable! Bromances get so much entertainment coverage, and I love me a good bromance as much as anyone else, but girl power friendships should get just as much love and attention. With a friendship long past a decade and still going on, A-list Taiwanese stars Ariel Lin and Rainie Yang have been going full … Continue reading →
It’s going to be a fun next few months as Chinese Running Man (Hurry Up Brother) comes back for season 3 of its massively popular run. I personally like watching the C-version more for the awe-inspiring locales around China used for the challenges, and the chance to get to know more Chinese and Taiwanese stars. Not to mention my fondness … Continue reading →
OMGosh, just what is wrong with this drama? I haven’t been agreeing or disagreeing with all the recent fan bitching about SBS passing on revenge melo Goodbye Mr. Black with Lee Jin Wook and Moon Chae Won, it’s hard with so little information to ascertain who is at fault even if it’s really one-sided. Chances are that the incompatibility came from … Continue reading →
