One thing I’m looking forward to with respect to upcoming KBS drama Descendants of the Sun is the sure to be glorious location shoot scenery porn. One of writer Kim Eun Sook‘s drama specialties is baking in a dedicated location shoot in most of her dramas – Heirs had Southern California, Lovers in Paris was of course in Paris, Lovers … Continue reading →
Upcoming sageuk K-movie The Joseon Magician has been all about male lead Yoo Seung Ho in the promos, for good reason since he’s the titular Joseon Magician and this drama will be his first acting project since his military discharge. That’s almost three years with no Seung Ho-ssshi onscreen, can’t blame folks (i.e. me) for being fiendishly focused on him. … Continue reading →
I already wrote about upcoming Korean-Japanese web drama The Secret Message starring T.O.P. of Big Bang and Japanese actress Ueno Juri. I’m primed to check it out for my love of Juri, and curiosity over what this cross-border collaboration will be like. But another reason for my interest is with supporting leads Yoo In Na and Shin (Shin Won Ho), both … Continue reading →
This has been an uneventful year in dramas for me, and it’s hard to wrap my head around the year ending soon and already K-ent pundits are looking towards 2016 for discussion fodder. The network that has been getting killed in prime time ratings for the last two years is actually garnering the most interest thanks to the one-two-three leading … Continue reading →
This is a most excellent onscreen pairing, and it’s an opinion I have even without watching them together, and even if the movie ends up a dud. Whoever thought to bring together Taiwanese actor Bolin Chen and Korean actress Son Ye Jin was doing more than picking popular star names out of a hat, these two have very similar acting … Continue reading →
C-ent wedding watch has been on top star couple Fan Bing Bing and Li Chen, for good reason based on their marriage ready age and how sweetly public they’ve been with the year long relationship. Another star couple might beat them to the gun and do so in a speed dating rate if the rumors are to be believed. Romance … Continue reading →
I remain eagerly anticipating Lee Kyung Hee‘s upcoming KBS drama Arbitrarily Fond, or whatever the final title will be or even if there will be one standard translation of the title. Starring Kim Woo Bin and Suzy, the drama has just confirmed its hot property status on just the two leads alone by reportedly being scooped up by one of China’s … Continue reading →
K-actress Kim Ha Neul is taking a page out of the playbook of many of her fellow actresses in terms of settling down, her agency SM C&C has just confirmed that she will be tying the knot early next year with her non-industry boyfriend of one year. Her boyfriend is described as one year younger than her, and an industrialist of … Continue reading →
It’s so good to see Roy Qiu back in the entertainment spotlight, though he didn’t actually take a hiatus for the last two years but it certainly felt like it based on how low key he was. It’s a rather odd and ultimately inconsequential reason for his staying out of the limelight even as he’s filmed movies and dramas this … Continue reading →
There’s another long-awaited novel to movie adaptation officially in the works that’ll make fans of the source novel very happy. Readers of the of fantasy period C-novel Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms (三生三世，十里桃花) will finally see their beloved story moved to the screens, and in big screen format as a movie rather than the expected small screen drama … Continue reading →
The older I get, the more nostalgic I am, which makes me feel more square and less hip, but then I don’t give a fug these days other than being happy with the things I like. One of which is people staying in touch with their roots, wherever one comes from it’s lovely not to forget it and sweeter yet … Continue reading →
This is as suitable a selection as any, short of landing Korea’s biggest traditional beauty export Lee Young Ae for the gig. The as pretty in modern or traditional attire A-list actress Ha Ji Won was just named ambassador for the hanbok, the ambassador thingie is really becoming a thing she wears well since she was also named ambassador for the … Continue reading →
Sophisticated sexy is one of my favorite leading man looks and the production of upcoming KBS drama Oh My Venus totally nails it for So Ji Sub. This drama will be crawling out of the ratings pits left by its predecessor Sassy Go Go, which currently resides so far below MBC makjang Glamorous Temptation and SBS sageuk Six Flying Dragons. … Continue reading →
