I’m quite looking forward to upcoming tvN Fri-Sat night spiritual possession romantic comedy Oh My Ghost. It’s the first horror-tinged K-drama this year and airing a bit earlier than the usual lunar new year 8th month of ghost month, which usually falls around mid-July through early-August. This one looks less scary and more melancholy, with both female leads Park Bo Young and … Continue reading →
I may not be pleased with the full casting lineup for upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Yongpalyi, but it’s not enough to turn me off keeping an eye on this drama. For starters I love Kim Tae Hee and second male lead Jo Hyun Jae, who are getting another chance to work together a full decade after they played star-crossed lovers … Continue reading →
The popular shoujo manga Itazura na Kiss (It Started with a Kiss) has officially crossed over to the zombie undead territory. How else to explain why this sweet but flimsy yarn is getting yet another live-action adaptation? Is anyone else still clamoring for the story of a dim-witted but persistent high school girl and the way she wore down and … Continue reading →
Feel free to have your own opinions regarding upcoming vampire sageuk Scholar Who Walks the Night as its certainly been one of the most eventful K-drama productions this year. I find the not too serious and a tad over-the-top style charmingly cheesy rather than annoyingly florid. It’s got just enough dramatic flair in all the teaser materials befitting the whole vampire … Continue reading →
Today’s lesson comes courtesy of K-tabloid Dispatch – don’t piss it off otherwise it’ll act like a spurned mistress. After Dispatch rattled the mid-week hump with a breaking story about Pinocchio costars Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Seok secretly dating for the last four months, the two stars in question swiftly denied the report through their agencies and united on … Continue reading →
July is finally here and that means Scholar Who Walks the Night is just around the corner. The drama arrives next Wed on MBC and the network continues to pull out all the punches when it comes to promo material. This is one drama that can’t blame failure on a lack of promotion. Today the drama dropped a second teaser … Continue reading →
I don’t blog about current events just to keep the blog thematically coherent rather than a mish-mash of whatever strikes my fancy. When I do write about real world stuff happening then I tie it into entertainment even if it may be a stretch. This past weekend Taiwan was hit with a devastating tragedy at a water park: during an … Continue reading →
Move over Lee Min Ho and Suzy, I love you two lovebirds together but time to make room for the latest power couple to hit K-town. Tabloid spymaster extraordinaire Dispatch just blew up the mid-week hump by dropping bombshell entertainment dating news on a slow Wednesday morning – the newspaper is claiming that Pinocchio costars and popular young actors Lee … Continue reading →
MBC released tons of new Scholar Who Walks the Night  drama stills this past weekend so continue to feast your eyes on the pretty, and boy is there an unending stream of pretty. I’ll be candidly honest with my approach and expectation towards this upcoming vampire sageuk – it’ll likely be pulpy bad but I think I’ll still like it. The idea of … Continue reading →
Holler if you want something different from K-dramas because one is on the way. There’s a new project in the works that might be the next unexpected hit, or at the least something appealing to a different demographic than the makjang majority that controls the drama hour remotes in Korea. The longest running webtoon in Korea, hosted on the biggest … Continue reading →
Will these two pretties put a ring on it already? One of top celebrity couples in K-ent undeniably includes Rain and Kim Tae Hee, even if they haven’t tied the knot they are still top of the charts in terms of popularity and public interest in their relationship. It’s been two and a half years since they were forced to … Continue reading →
The curious case of model-actor Nam Joo Hyuk in his first leading man stint in just finished drama Who Are You: School 2015 is sure to incite heated debates. I fall in the camp of liking him in School 2015, he is easy on the eyes with a great leading man build that fills up the camera screen, followed by … Continue reading →
Even if highly anticipated KBS variety drama Producer wasn’t the blockbuster hit it was aiming for, the end result was still a qualified success in the current ratings landscape. I didn’t write about the drama despite watching it completely and liking it very much. It just didn’t hook me to the degree I felt the urge the pontificate over it. … Continue reading →
