With Pinocchio put to bed it feels like nestling in for the night after a particularly productive day. The cast and crew must feel even more satisfied and proud of delivering such a meaningful drama made with love. I’ve long since passed my drama shipping days other than out of nostalgia or whimsy but the OTP of Lee Jong Seok … Continue reading →
This is basically a Lee Bo Young swoon post. There isn’t enough of these types of posts in the drama blogsphere since it’s usually the hottie guys who get all the drooling attention. I think Lee Bo Young’s career breakthrough the last two years have been much deserved, she’s put in years of toiling hard work in poor roles and … Continue reading →
Leave it to C-netizens to find amusement in the oddest of coincidences. Just as C-ent has been dealing with Cleavage-gate the last three weeks centering around the ample bosoms of The Empress of China and her cohorts, K-ent gets it’s own heaving bosom story to cover this week as if not wanting to be left out of the tittering going … Continue reading →
The final episode of Pinocchio is as perfect as it gets. Time was spent on all the main characters to wrap up their threads while reaching satisfying resolutions on the central conflicts. I couldn’t have asked for a better finale, except perhaps more fan service and that’s something I can never get enough of when it comes from a drama … Continue reading →
In a whiplash inducing about-turn, news just broke that Jang Geun Seok will henceforth NOT be in the cast of the upcoming tvN reality show Three Meals a Day: Fishing Village. The spin-off of the original concept show Three Meals a Day was supposed to air tomorrow Friday January 15th but will now be delayed a week until January 23rd … Continue reading →
Lee Young Ae is basically the female Won Bin, except with her marriage and being the mother to twins, her sabbatical from acting for the last decade has been transferring her life from the busy big screen to the busy personal sphere. Her last project was Sympathy for Lady Vengeance in 2005 but she remains most famous for Dae Jang … Continue reading →
Lady justice has spoken, or perhaps she’s long dead and buried, as the Lee Byung Hun getting blackmailed trial comes to an end today in a South Korean courtroom as the two blackmailing ladies got handed down their sentences. Model Lee Ji Yeon got slapped with a year and two months in the slammer while her accomplice/co-defendant Dahee of GLAM got … Continue reading →
I wasn’t expecting Pinocchio to have the depth for one more emotional wring out of me but I’ve never been happier to be served wrong. Throughout this drama I tried hard to keep my expectations level, neither underselling the consistent writing or giving it too much due that it was bound to let me down. A good drama is hard … Continue reading →
This isn’t the first time I’ve had to churn out back-to-back recaps for a K-drama but previous experience certainly doesn’t make it easier. It does help that the drama in question is Pinocchio, still so compelling and satisfying even if the light moments are few and the serious stuff remains front and center. I suppose the two cute leads have … Continue reading →
The fourth and latest preview for Hyde, Jekyll, Me is the best yet, showcasing in a short thirty seconds just enough backstory and juicy tidbits to whet my appetite. It’s actually arriving next week now that Pinocchio wraps up tomorrow, turning the Wed-Thurs time slot into a battle of the personality disorders. Unlike Kill Me Heal Me and the main … Continue reading →
Doing the variety show circuit in K-ent is par for the course when promoting dramas but most are just one episode guest starring gigs. Less frequent but more invaluable is when an actor or actress will get a popularity resurgence after becoming a variety show regular whether it’s of the talking, living together, or doing something difficult in a foreign … Continue reading →
I gotta give MBC credit for the level of epic fail on the promos for upcoming fantasy fusion sageuk Shine or Go Crazy. Remember well that this meshed genre was also used to describe last year’s laughable mess Records of a Night Watchman, which let’s not forget also aired on MBC. Sure ROTC led the ratings for a very weak … Continue reading →
It’s time to say goodbye to Pinocchio, a drama that is on the longer prime time offering side at 20 episodes yet felt much too short at times. If this was a weekend drama about the lives of young reporters then I would have stayed on even if the overarching conspiracy of Cha Ok and Bum Jo’s mom was doled … Continue reading →
