Kyaaaaa, I cannot believe my J-dorama gods granted my prayers for the last month that the two leading men cast opposite Ayase Haruka in her new fall dorama would be right up my alley. The full casting news dropped this week for the live-action adaptation of the popular young ladies manga Kyou wa Kaisha Yasumimasu (きょうは会社休みます translated as Today I … Continue reading →
The first official look at the upcoming period noir Korean gangster movie Gangnam Blues is out. It likely wouldn’t be high on most viewers’ radar if the drama wasn’t starring Lee Min Ho and would marked a major shift in his acting repertoire. But for fans of K-cinema this movie is high on the must-check-out list because it’s helmed by … Continue reading →
It’s with a heavy sad heart that I have to write a post that Rise (Kwon Ri Sae) of the girl’s group Ladies Code didn’t pull through after the catastrophic car accident 5 days ago which already took the life of her fellow group member EunB. Rise passed away this morning Korea time at 10:10 am at the intensive care … Continue reading →
Are you suited up and ready for K-Iron Man to arrive? The much mocked KBS drama Iron Man is set to premiere next Wednesday and has gotten a new English title of Blade Man just to completely destroy its very reason for naming it Iron Man in Korean in the first place. Why can’t the Korean title be Blade Man … Continue reading →
Is it just me or does Park Seo Joon and Lee Jong Seok give up strikingly similar vibes? It’s probably always been there but since I’ve never paid attention to Lee Jong Seok until recently after Dr. Stranger, it feel like discovering a new set of facetwins. Park Seo Joon is in the pages of the July issues of Marie … Continue reading →
The 9th annual Seoul International Drama Awards was held this week and came across as rather random in timing since I’m used to Asian award ceremonies either at year end or beginning of the year. This award definitely tries to live up to the word international in its title and doles out prizes for acting and dramas outside of Korea. … Continue reading →
I don’t follow the C-entertainers as regularly as I do the Korean or Taiwanese actors and actresses since it’s more project specific whether I want to watch something from C-drama land. That means it can be awhile before I encounter a C-star from the last time I saw him/her and if there are tweaks here and there it may raise … Continue reading →
I’m getting more and more excited with the upcoming SETTV daily drama Love Cheque Charge (Happiness Voucher) starring George Hu, Yuan Ai Fei, and Kun Da. The three leads attended a drama promotional BBQ fan event at SETTV headquarters last week to drum up interest in the drama and consider me interested. The drama also released two new substantive teasers … Continue reading →
In a week of genuinely depressing news from K-ent it’s actually a relief to have the tabloid Dispatch embroiled in yet another dating “scandal”. I seriously go cray cray anytime I hear the word scandal associated with dating unless one or both parties are married already yet K-ent continues to insist dating gossip between two single hotblooded beautiful entertainers is … Continue reading →
Joseon Gunman started with a literal bang as drama opened on guns being fired and ends today with a well-deserved and perfectly executed bow. It makes me want to pinch myself that I got to recap such a solid drama and having it star a pair of my fave onscreen couples. With that said, I won’t miss JG at all … Continue reading →
This latest scandal out of K-ent is a combination bad decision, bad behavior, and lawbreaking all wrapped into one. 2014 really is a terrible year for K-ent and if the remaining celebs who haven’t tasted the downside of fame this year want to go into hibernation mode until 2015 then I would totally understand. News broke earlier this week that … Continue reading →
A new drama poster and third teaser is out for My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) airing on SBS after It’s Okay, It’s Love. The drama has another two weeks to go before airing but it’s reassuring to see a steady stream of promotional material come out rather than feeling like it’s desperately playing catch up. I remember this drama … Continue reading →
I can’t say this news surprising but it’s a nice way to start September with confirmed drama casting on a highly anticipated upcoming project. A week after reports surfaced that Park Shin Hye was in talks to headline the SBS drama Pinocchio, she’s been confirmed today as the leading lady. This was the drama that very publicly courted Kim Woo … Continue reading →
