This episode of Joseon Gunman is so good and so aggravating I almost needed to pop an anti-anxiety pill or take a nap to lower my blood pressure before recapping. All the baddies get more bad and more good at being bad, which doesn’t bode well for our decent and humane gunman Park Yoon Kang. He really doesn’t stand a … Continue reading →
Jo Seung Woo is a beautiful beautiful man. I hope there is unanimous agreement on that point alone, but throw in his immense and wide-ranging talent from movies to theater and now to dramas, this man pretty much can do no wrong in my eyes. I first saw him in The Classic and loved him and he really made Tazza … Continue reading →
I feel so lucky to have fantastic K-dramas to watch on Wed-Thurs this month. Joseon Gunman has another ten episodes to go and that’s five more weeks to spend with my beloved Soo In and Yoon Kang, not to mention all sorts of memorable antagonists and hilarious sidekicks. It’s Okay, It’s Love just started but four episodes in I’m already … Continue reading →
This chapter 34 of Lost You Forever is the start of the third and final volume of the three-part epic novel. It’s called Missing You Without End or as the English translation cuts right to the chase and calls it simply Missing You Forever. I’ve enjoyed every minute of translating this novel mostly because I like all the main characters. … Continue reading →
I’m pretty surprised there seems to be a rather sizable swatch of drama viewers who don’t like Park Shin Hye. I find her enjoyable to watch onscreen with a natural delivery but have no problems conceding she is really lacking in the romance believability department. In that realm she ranges from deer in headlights to at most cool understated sweetness. … Continue reading →
It’s such a treat to be dealt an unexpected surprise. There was a teaser for the upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Discovery of Love appended to the end of Monday’s episode of Lovers of Music (Trot Lovers) and it was the best thing about that entire episode. That drama cannot end early enough for me, and now with how delightful DoL … Continue reading →
Talk about a quick about-face from the production of the upcoming SBS music and romance K-drama My Lovely Girl (She’s So Lovable). The casting was going at light speed with news of Krystal in talks to be Rain‘s leading lady followed a day later by Krystal being confirmed for the part. The lead casting always gets more media interest but … Continue reading →
There’s a storm brewing in the KBS Wed-Thurs time slot and hopefully this week will iron (har har) things out fully. Joseon Gunman has been leading the ratings but it’s a nominal victory since all three dramas including It’s Okay, It’s Love and Fated to Love You are are so close together and have plenty of buzz. I like it … Continue reading →
I was initially going to give the upcoming tvN drama My Secret Hotel a pass since there wasn’t any one element that hooked me good. I really like male leads Jin Yi Han who is getting a well-deserved career uptick after Empress Ki and A New Leaf and Namg Goong Min who is happily ensconced in cable dramas lately with I Need Romance 3 and … Continue reading →
The casting news for My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) comes in waves of ups and downs and this weekend is no exception. I was super stoked for Rain‘s confirmation as the male lead, then horrified that L of Infinite was going to play his romantic rival. It doesn’t even matter if L’s idol boy character has a bat’s chance in … Continue reading →
A second batch of official posters arrived this weekend for Three Musketeers and are significantly better than the pictures that appeared on the official website pages. Those looked like something produced in the basement by a bored and lazy first year graphic design student in community college. Dull and uninspired, the whole thing was further tossed in a dreary dressing … Continue reading →
For some reason I kept thinking It’s Okay, It’s Love is a 20-episode drama, it certainly has the narrative legs to go the distance, but turns out IOIL is a standard 16-episode outing which means it’s now a quarter way through its run. Follow up drama My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) with Rain was announced a few weeks ago but … Continue reading →
When I started blogging years ago, the three areas of my interest (K-ent, TW/C-ent, and J-ent) were remarkably distinct entities and never did the twain shall meet. Okay may not never ever, but it was still fairly rare. These days the cross-over of K-stars making C-dramas and movies, TW-starlets marrying K-actors on Korean fake dating shows, combo magazine covers featuring … Continue reading →
