Production companies of K-dramas shared with the media its very valid concern with upcoming year leading men casting due to the large exodus of military service bound this year in 2017. Starting with Lee Min Ho, the list of talented and famous K-drama leading men who have left for the military now include Joo Won, Kim Soo Hyun, Ji Chang … Continue reading →
It’s quite a feat to pull off for a star to look better completed laid bare than fully decked out, so kudos to Im Shi Wan for leaving on such a visual high note. The idol actor, who in recent years has gained more acclaim for his second job than his primary boy band ZE:A membership, signed in for mandatory … Continue reading →
It’s a relief to finally have a positive response to a promo from upcoming MBC sageuk A King Loves, too bad the network nearly negated it with another dose of terrible visuals. The cast held a press conference last week with leads Im Shi Wan, Yoona, and Hong Jong Hyun, releasing a long 4-minute preview that was unexpectedly intriguing. Im … Continue reading →
Good drama lordy are these two of the worst sageuk posters I’ve seen in a good long while, almost so bad as to be a parody. Now I just feel sad for A King Loves leads Im Shi Wan, Yoona, and Hong Jong Hyun, with poor Yoona being told to look serious and melancholy but coming across in the posters … Continue reading →
The first teaser for upcoming MBC Mon-Tues drama A King Loves (The King Loves) is out, and along with it news about the next two years whereabouts of the male lead. The titular King in love Im Shi Wan is trading in his big hair band and flowing sageuk hair for a buzz cut as he’s enlisting for military service … Continue reading →
I’m cautiously optimistic about pre-produced sageuk A King Loves since it’s adapted from a novel so the story structure has less chance of falling apart. But that optimism is also tempered with plenty of K-dramas failing even on adapting well-written works, not to mention I’m really not liking male lead Im Shi Wan‘s sageuk look. It’s not all on a … Continue reading →
K-ent continues to churn out talented child actors who succeed into adult roles, with three big names from the last few years transitioning and leaving a void. Yeo Jin Goo, Kim Yoo Jung, and Kim So Hyun are now fully in leading role territory of their own so there’s room for the new batch of teens to make their mark. … Continue reading →
The first stills are out for upcoming romance sageuk A King Loves, which true to it’s title is based on a novel all about said king’s love for a woman. Maybe there’s the typical palace and power play intrigue involved but all I see in the synopsis is a love triangle set in period garb. Starring Im Shi Wan and … Continue reading →
I gotta give polling site Moolmong credit for even coming up with this particular poll topic, but then again it’s probably run out of more mainstream subjects to inquire about. Korean ladies were polled on which K-star elicited their most motherly instincts, which seems anathema that viewers would want to mother the hotties in question rather than dream of them … Continue reading →
A recent Korean ladies magazine poll at the end of March is an interesting peek into how the domestic female viewers feel about how the hot Korean actors the English-speaking drama world fangirls over. It’s not the same list, that’s for sure, if I were to take a poll there are certain names that would dominate even if he hasn’t … Continue reading →
A big thanks to MBC for starting off the year end drama awards procession off right. The network was first of the big three to hold it’s drama awards and this year managed to not screw things up or piss audiences off. Ji Sung walked home with the Daesang (Grand Prize), capping off on a high note what has been … Continue reading →
To the surprise of no one, Kim Soo Hyun racked up another Daesang this weekend, taking home the top prize at the 4th annual APAN Star Awards for his performance in Producer. Kim Hee Sun won Top Excellence Female in a Mini-series for Angry Mom while Lee Sung Min took home male equivalent for Misaeng. Lee Joon‘s performance in Heard … Continue reading →
I’m sure the list of winners at Friday night’s Korean Drama Awards 2015 will certainly generate lots of buzz, mostly of the dismay and headshaking variety no doubt. This is one of those awards shows that are already low on the legitimacy totem pole, but having the Daesang go to Kim Soo Hyun in Producer for the second year in … Continue reading →
