One of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy series is Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, which is late teens aimed but I didn’t read until I was an adult and still loved it. I don’t know why I didn’t make the connection until now, but the latest teaser for MBC drama W: Two Worlds totally reminds me of the parallel universes conceit in … Continue reading →
I have no idea what the heck is going on with upcoming MBC drama W: Two Worlds, and in fact the teaser makes the whole strange concept even stranger, but I think I’m already in love with this latest iteration of Lee Jong Seok‘s onscreen persona. I know his Dr. Stranger was just awful beyond ridiculous but he played the … Continue reading →
Guh, I soooooo can’t wait for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama W: Two Worlds, completely and utterly due to my love for leading man Lee Jong Seok. He’s not the best actor, or the best looking, but for that ephemeral indescribable element he’s just won my heart and I love everything he’s done. The first official stills are out for W … Continue reading →
I don’t think this will end up being some great debate as much as a fun time to share personal visual preferences. While Korean actors are well known for being intensely easy on the eyes, sometimes their styling onscreen and in real life leave much to be desired – whether it’s visible pink lipstick in character, hilariously awkward ensembles, or … Continue reading →
It’s finally here, or at least the start is finally here for upcoming MBC fantasy sci-fi drama W. It’s gotten a clarification name add to the official title W-Two Worlds, which is two words more to help me write about it going forward since the letter W complicates searching, reading, and writing about this exciting television project. Starring Lee Jong … Continue reading →
I recently came across never seen before behind-the-scenes stills from the 2014-2015 K-drama Pinocchio, still one of my favorite K-dramas in recent years, and felt compelled to share for those like-minded folks. These pics feature male lead Lee Jong Seok goofing around with supporting actor Yoon Kyun Sang, with the former remaining super popular even after Pinocchio while the latter … Continue reading →
Consider me pleasantly surprised by the one-two Lee Jong Seok punch this week. He’s on the cover, two different ones to be precise, of Ceci Magazine, and the first sneak peek at his upcoming Chinese-Korean joint production drama Jade Lover with Zheng Shuang is out. I like what I see from both, he’s suitably quirky in his flower boy appeal in … Continue reading →
When casting started for MBC fantasy-romance-thriller drama W, it felt so far away and rather nebulous. There might be a bend in the time-space continuum because suddenly the drama is getting a full cast and premiere date is a little over two months away. It’s still plenty of time but this ambitious drama about parallel dimensions suddenly seems real. Starring … Continue reading →
After releasing the list of current most popular K-dramas in China, polling site Vlinkage is back with the Top 30 list of most popular Korean male and female stars, respectively. Some are long time regulars on any Korean star popularity list while others are a surprise to me but adds diversity to this list. On the male side, the most … Continue reading →
Filming is near wrapped for Korean-Chinese co-produced drama Jade Lover (or Emerald Jade Lover), the successor in spirit to last summer’s silly hit Diamond Lover with Rain and Tang Yan. That drama was stupid from the start and then went cray cray with whatever little plot it had in the end, but I still have hopes that Jade Lover with … Continue reading →
A recent Korean ladies magazine poll at the end of March is an interesting peek into how the domestic female viewers feel about how the hot Korean actors the English-speaking drama world fangirls over. It’s not the same list, that’s for sure, if I were to take a poll there are certain names that would dominate even if he hasn’t … Continue reading →
This is most excellent drama casting news for me, not sure if anyone else finds this as promising as I do but it’s certainly big name catches for MBC. The summer 2016 K-drama season is shaping up to be intense competition indeed as Lee Jong Seok and Han Hyo Joo have both just confirmed the thriller romance W. The drama … Continue reading →
Lee Jong Seok is taking a page from the rising Hallyu star playbook and doing a C-drama intended for a much broader audience. Even a C-drama as stupid as Diamond Lover was a big hit in China and helped cushion Rain‘s continued popularity and recognition there. Lee Jong Seok picked as his first K-drama the big budget and highly promoted … Continue reading →
