The first teaser for upcoming MBC Mon-Tues drama A King Loves (The King Loves) is out, and along with it news about the next two years whereabouts of the male lead. The titular King in love Im Shi Wan is trading in his big hair band and flowing sageuk hair for a buzz cut as he’s enlisting for military service … Continue reading →
Another high end couture media event in Seoul and another reason for the fashion conscious Koreans stars to don their brand outfits out for a strut. This time it was the Chanel exhibition titled Mademoiselle Prive held at the D-Museum. Because K-stars can and often do dress oddly, and high end couture also can and often is designed oddly (also … Continue reading →
It’s equal parts Chinese and Korean starlets when it comes to what the Chinese netizens think are the top echelons of Asian beauty. A Baidu poll this month voted by Chinese netizens ranking the Top 10 Asian Beauty is a rather surprising but not all that controversial list, with basically a who’s who of the ladies that are frequently mentioned … Continue reading →
I’m cautiously optimistic about pre-produced sageuk A King Loves since it’s adapted from a novel so the story structure has less chance of falling apart. But that optimism is also tempered with plenty of K-dramas failing even on adapting well-written works, not to mention I’m really not liking male lead Im Shi Wan‘s sageuk look. It’s not all on a … Continue reading →
Couples were not the focal point of the 2017 Baeksangs, whether onscreen pairings or real life couples, the event was mostly devoid of shippable moments for fans. An exception was seeing the Moonlight Drawn by Clouds couple Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung reunited on stage, and the picture above where she fixes his shirt is straight out of … Continue reading →
I can’t help but simultaneously chuckle and cringe at the massive cover tagline for Yoona‘s May Grazia Magazine pictorial. The all caps “I am single and happy” is fine and dandy as the refrain for the empowered single lady as beautiful and successful as the singer-actress, but knowing that she dated Lee Seung Gi for over a year and it … Continue reading →
K-ent continues to churn out talented child actors who succeed into adult roles, with three big names from the last few years transitioning and leaving a void. Yeo Jin Goo, Kim Yoo Jung, and Kim So Hyun are now fully in leading role territory of their own so there’s room for the new batch of teens to make their mark. … Continue reading →
It’ll be interesting to see how Yoona fares in her first sageuk drama role in the upcoming A King Loves with Im Shi Wan and Hong Jong Hyun. Both guys got acting props in their last drama performances, in Misaeng and Moon Lovers respectively, while Yoona was solid if not spectacular in an underwritten role for The K2. I like … Continue reading →
The first stills are out for upcoming romance sageuk A King Loves, which true to it’s title is based on a novel all about said king’s love for a woman. Maybe there’s the typical palace and power play intrigue involved but all I see in the synopsis is a love triangle set in period garb. Starring Im Shi Wan and … Continue reading →
Last week was the 2016 Asia Artist Awards, which was by all accounts a giant steaming mess with ceremony glitches and a hodge podge of categories that made the very award seem superfluous. With that said, this awards ceremony managed to get a good showing of popular K-stars that skewed younger, with the biggest ladies being Suzy, Yoona, and Park Shin … Continue reading →
This past weekend saw the wrap up of thriller tvN drama The K2, ending on a happy note for leads Ji Chang Wook and Yoona as they got to escape the political plotting and crazy around them. This drama was a return to form for PD Kwak Jung Hwan, a success in ratings airing on cable, and proves that Ji … Continue reading →
Midway though it’s run, tvN‘s hit political thriller drama The K2 is still firing on solid cylinders and delivering an entertaining weekly ride. I’m not as personally invested as I hoped to be with the characters and their complications, but the story as a whole has me hooked to watch how the baddies will get their comeuppance and the leads … Continue reading →
The network and production team of tvN‘s The K2 must be thrilled with it’s success thus far, ratings are excellent for a cable drama and continue to increase week by week. I went in for leads Ji Chang Wook and Yoona, both coming off well-received performances in their last dramas, and so far neither have disappointed. Ji Chang Wook feels … Continue reading →
