2023 Blue Dragon Awards Fetes K-movies with Smugglers Taking Best Picture and Lee Byun Hun and Jung Yu Mi Winning the Best Acting Prizes

I didn’t follow the K-movies this year so I don’t even know if any of the winners were the right ones lol but I still love awards ceremonies for the glitz and glamor. It was the usual level of awards show dressing for the 2023 Blue Dragon Awards which fetes the best in film with plenty of A-list and rising movie stars in attendance. Smugglers won Best Picture and Lee Byung Hun and Jung Yumi took home Best Actor and Best Actress respectively. The fashion if you can call it that was perfunctory but at least one thing I notice about K-dressing is the cute and sizing is always on point even if there is no risk taking on the red carpet.

  1. LOL at their viral reactions to JYP’s random performance 😂😂😂
Do Kyungsoo’s, Krystal’s, and Ryu Jun Yeol’s reactions are especially priceless lmao, they were NOT having it 😂😂😂

And Kim Hye Soo looking like an absolute goddess, as always! She really knows how to dress for her body type and I love how her fashion choices are never boring but also not over the top that it becomes corny or cheesy. Love her! She always steals the show 😍

  2. One thing I noticed is that Song Joongki seems to no longer be friends with any of his old actor friend group. Him and Park Bogum are no longer close, and he seemed awkward as hell (and had odd expressions) whenever he was near Zo Insung at the show. Even him and Kwangsoo seem to have fallen out.
I’ve always been neutral about the SongSong divorce fiasco but it is somewhat illuminating that after the dust has settled, he seems to have ruined his relationships even with his guy friends….

      • Really? That’s a shame then. I wonder why he even attended the award show when he was going to be so blatant about it. He even looked miserable at times. They all used to be pretty wholesome together, now he brings a weird vibe whenever any of his former buddies is near. It’s pretty shocking how much has changed after that whole mess. Even if some these friendships were mostly for publicity, they’ve fallen through on the professional level as well. Song Hye kyo, on the other hand, seems to have salvaged a lot of her old relationships. Quite a surprise tbh. Wouldn’t have guessed this is how it would have turned out based on how everything immediately post divorce seemed to favor his side more.

      • @Wev

Park Bogum was dragged as the other person in his divorce case. No matter how deep your friendship is, that’s bound to cause discord. No idea with JIS, seems like he and SJK only became friends through Kwangsoo. SHK’s old friends are also her agency mates like YAI, PHS and friends from her younger days like Park Solmi, Kim Heesun and Song Yoonah. Her friendships with them came before Dots and her marriage and not for publicity or common friends.

    • Wow, you seem to have a lot of insight into this friend group for someone just looking at pics on them online. You should look into creative writing.

      • Thanks! Although it isn’t just my creative talent that helped, but my pair of working eyes too! They saw the really unsubtle sour looks he gave his ex friends 🙂

    • I don’t necessarily think it’s related to the divorce because he was still hanging out with Kwang Soo in 2021 but it seems they are not close any longer. I don’t know when he fell out with Jo Insung but they haven’t been seen together for years. SJK looked so salty when Jo In Sung won. He couldn’t even fake a polite smile and they didn’t interact at all in the photocalls.

The only other celebrity I saw SJK interact with warmly with Jeon Yeo Been but she is the sweetest person and gets along with everyone.

I found it odd that he was practically attached at the hip to Kim Seon Ho of all people the whole night. When did they get so chummy?

      • I felt the same about him & Seon ho. And yes on Yeo Been, she seems like a sweetheart. It looks like he stuck more to the newer actors that started their rise post divorce era and avoided anyone that knew him from before. I was taken aback when he didn’t even pretend to be happy for In Sung. Such a switch up from how they used to be… Really makes me curious about what went down lol

      • @Wev: lol so curious what went down between JIS and him too. They act like complete strangers now – not even a polite nod or anything. Meanwhile, Lee Kwang Soo is still besties with Jo In Sung and that whole friendship crew(Kim Woobin, Lee Kwang Soo, Bae Sung Woo, Kim Ki Bang, Cha Tae hyun, Lim Juhwan, D.O. + Park Boyoung).

It seems aside from his juniors from SJK’s film there wasn’t much interaction with anyone else in the fancams. He almost looked like an outsider which is odd for a 15 year acting veteran. I watched the fancam from the 2021 awards and he actually seemed more comfortable and was warmly interacting with other actors like Lee Kwang Soo, Yoo Yeon Seok. Lee Sunk Kyu.

    • I notice his face when pbg was on stage. Also when jis won the award 😅 but he also clapped half heartedly when lee sungmin came out with suzy. He’s not even trying to hide his bad mood. But glad to see he’s not having the time of his life there why my boy bogummy was glowing and radiating happiness

  3. Why is SHK photo the one on the thumbnail of the article? She wasn’t even at the awards show and wasn’t that her photo at Baeksang? Using her for clicks, koala?

  4. Some of the ladies are wearing actual colours rather than the regulation black or white preferred by K-actresees so that’s something but overall the fashion is mostly meh as expected for Korean red carpets.

I have to disagree with Koala about the cut and sizing. It’s always very obvious most of these dresses are borrowed as they are rarely sized well to the actresses

  5. there’s so much tea in the comment section lmao. Now I’m really curious about what went down SJK and almost all of his old friends minus Kwangsoo.

  6. I first watched Jo In Sung in the Classics with Son Ye Jin then Bali drama in the early 2000s. I also liked him and SHK in That Winter so I’m fond of him. He mostly stays out of the entertainment drama in his 20yrs+ career and established genuine friendships amongst his peers.

I’m also glad that new generation of kfans are getting re-introduced to these first korean wave stars like In sung, SHK and Cha Tae Hyung through their recent projects
