The leads of Crash Landing on You and Itaewon Class dominated the February 2020 actor/actress brand rankings in South Korea. But the three youngsters of Itaewon played spoiler to keeping the OTP of crash apart on the poll position, lol. First place is the North Korean officer himself Hyun Bin, followed by all three Itaewon leads Park Seo Joon in … Continue reading →
I haven’t seen the mid-premiere press conference these days, years really, as drama ratings are mostly so level or low there’s no point in trotting out the leads for a meet-and-greet with the press if there is no way to gain more ratings for the second half. jTBC phenom Itaewon Class definitely breaks lots of records and molds so makes … Continue reading →
If this novel coronavirus Covid19 outbreak isn’t stabilized and contained in South Korea then I think the upcoming Summer 2020 movie season will be drastically re-scheduled. I can’t imagine people wanting to sit in a confined closed space like a movie theater even if life outside has returned to relative normalcy. With that said, outbreak is the name of the … Continue reading →

Everyone and every country is taking the coronavirus Covid19 outbreak seriously, thank god, but for those who subsist on Asian entertainment it’s having increasing impact on industries. China last month already halted all C-drama filming but K-dramas went on business as usual. I don’t know how long that will last because on Saturday February 29th South Korea recorded 800 new … Continue reading →
MBC still hasn’t found the ratings mojos that some of the other networks have managed to scrounge back and I’m not sure this next Mon-Tues drama will bring in tons more viewers even if it’s good. I’m totally watching 365: Repeat the Year because I love both leads Nam Ji Hyun and Lee Joon Hyuk, and knowing these two likely … Continue reading →
K-actor Yoo An In seems to be content staying in movies and it’s currently a new renaissance in Chungmuro thanks to the global level success of Parasite. Up next for Yoo Ah In is likely to be the supernatural thriller movie The Hell by the director of Train to Busan. It’s based on a webtoon by the author of Awl … Continue reading →
On principal alone I want this movie to succeed. The upcoming Disney live action version of its animated Mulan starring Crystal Liu (Liu Yi Fei) is a story about a strong Chinese folk heroine starring a Chinese actress and directed by a female director Niki Caro. The two ladies grace the cover and pages of The Hollywood Reporter magazine while … Continue reading →
Time really does lessen any scandal and none more notable that the relationship of award winning South Korean director Hong Sang Soo and his muse and girlfriend K-actress Kim Min Hee. Daaaaaaang, this was the shot to the heart I needed to start the anticipation countdown for the biggest K-drama of 2020 – Kim Eun Sook‘s newly penned fantasy romance The King: Eternal Sovereign with Lee Min Ho in their second collaboration together after Heirs. That high school frothy confection was stupidly addicting, I can rewatch anytime and enjoy the cheesy … Continue reading →
The travel industry has been massively impacted by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus Covid19 since the beginning of January and honestly if I didn’t have any pressing need I wouldn’t travel either, why take the risk. I figure K-ent travels to and from South Korea will drop as well and it probably has so maybe the paparazzi stationed at … Continue reading →
There’s been so much blowback on the source material webtoon that will be adapted into the K-drama Convenience Store Morning Star (Convenience Store Saet Byul) that I curiously glanced and it and erm it’s totally not my tea. Hopefully the adaptation will take merely the set up and remove all the sleazy stuff otherwise it’ll come across as perverted ahjusshi … Continue reading →
First off, if your fave isn’t mentioned here don’t get your goat up. This is just a list of some stars being mentioned right now as making a financial contribution to the fight to contain the novel coronavirus Covid19 spread. South Korea went from one of the Asian countries with known cases to suddenly an explosion of coronavirus cases centered … Continue reading →
