I still remember how openly the popular messaging app LINE was featured all over You From Another Star. It made for great comedic drunken Chun Song Yi fodder for sure but might’ve even fit better into the other SBS drama Heirs since it’s all about teenagers there and who else texts as much as teens these days. Lee Min Ho was in … Continue reading →
Woah momma does this look potentially fantastic. I’ve been all over the production of C-drama Lady and Liar since the very beginning primarily due to the story line being lifted from a classic shoujo manga Hakushaku Reijou (伯爵令嬢 or The Earl’s Daughter). I loved that manga as a kid and now that I’m watching dramas more the plot is totally … Continue reading →
While In a Good Way still has a few episodes remaining to air, the cast of the drama has reached the end of the road and it’s time to part ways. The adorable and wonderful cast of IAGW wrapped filming last week and this week held a much deserved wrap party with SETTV footing the celebration bill. Everyone showed up … Continue reading →
I don’t recall any producer/screenwriter who gets as much hate as Yu Zheng does in China, and frankly it’s all well-deserved. He hasn’t churned out a single watchable drama yet his dramas keep bringing in the ratings. Last week C-ent was abuzz with the biggest news concerning Yu Zheng’s currently airing Gong 3, a drama that even when I watched … Continue reading →
New drama alerts drop pretty consistently but I only have the bandwidth to post about the select few that strike my fancy. Even though Tang Yan isn’t anywhere near my list of favorite C-actresses, and even manages to annoy me when she often overacts, lately she’s been hitting up drama after drama that I want to watch. This week her … Continue reading →
Freedom means something different to everyone but the meaning of the word resonates no matter how tied down or free a person is in life. It’s a genuine rarity to find a thoughtful and carefully written TW-drama like In a Good Way but all good things must come to an end. As viewers we still have a few episodes left … Continue reading →
Sold! Just on how adorable Liu Yi Hao and Puff Guo look together making their first appearance as a couple for the upcoming SETTV Friday night drama, I’m totally checking these two out no matter what. If the story turns out good then I’ll stay for the long haul. The cast of the currently airing Friday night drama In a … Continue reading →
Anyone ready for round two of Bride of the Century? No, I’m not talking about a sequel maybe involving a reformed Yi Kyung meeting her perfect man who ends up having a family curse spanning generations. What’s coming is a Chinese flavored Bride of the Century courtesy of a C-drama remake that is right around the corner. This is the … Continue reading →
Thanks to the C-dramas love for giving audiences so many promotional spoilers, the online portal QQ has just released 16-minute cuts of each of the first three episodes of Bu Bu Jing Qing. I confess to quite enjoying the extensive sneak peek and now I’m genuinely excited to catch the drama when it airs on April 22nd. Either Bu Bu … Continue reading →
Get ready to laugh until your belly aches. The first official character stills from the upcoming C-drama Billion Dollar Inheritors (亿万继承人) has just been released. This was the drama that made the news in the beginning of the year for being the C-remake of last year’s hit K-drama Heirs. Turns out it’s not a remake of Heirs as this particular … Continue reading →
Goodness does the production for Bu Bu Jing Qing really know how to milk the Bu Bu Jing Xin feels. I freaking love this new drama poster! As the long-awaited sorta-sequel gets ready to premiere next Tuesday April 22nd, the promotional materials are starting to snowball and I’m being judicious about what I pluck out lest I get steamrolled by … Continue reading →
There are two C-dramas scheduled for airing towards the end of April and I’m interested in both just to stack the odds that if one sucks I still have another shot at striking a watchable one. The more high profile is Bu Bu Jing Qing, the modern day sequel to the Qing dynasty period drama Bu Bu Jing Xin. BBJX … Continue reading →
I think it’s such a happy coincidence that I’m translating Tong Hua‘s fantasy romance novel Lost You Forever right now, reminding me daily of all the things I love about her writing which all started with her first novel Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step). It’s her most famous work to-date and likely deserves all the affection it gets. … Continue reading →
