I wasn’t expecting this until the Summer, but looks like GTV wants to bring out some familiar big guns to try and rescue its prolonged period of bad ratings for Sunday night. The Taiwanese drama adaptation of You’re Beautiful has been given the English title of Fabulous Boys and is premiering on May 12th on GTV. That means Spring Love … Continue reading →
I shall henceforth always remember this week in drama-lore as “the week it rained kisses in all of Koala’s crack dramas”, or maybe “the week the kisses were all in the rain in Koala’s crack dramas”. Take that as a spoiler for a certain drama episode imma recapping as fast as my fingers can type. Who knew rain could hurt … Continue reading →
That was easy – with one picture I’ve been sold on the upcoming new drama pairing of Ady An and Mike He. They are seriously adorable without being cloying. It is the first time working together for these two though collectively they have been in a good third of major Taiwan idol dramas if you add it all up. Mike … Continue reading →
The first half of episode 16 of King Flower was so good I was crying and smiling simultaneously. I would have recapped this sucker already if I didn’t have girlfriends in town to entertain. This episode was one successive revelation after another and everything was fantastically done. Terry came clean with President Du, Qin Mo made his usual Dr. Crazy … Continue reading →
It can either be a positive or negative following along with a live-filmed drama, since behind-the-scenes stuff can be distracting or entertaining depending on the in-and-outs of the production. I bet you donuts to dollars SETTV is all over the map with respect to King Flower. It knows about the overwhelming fan preference for Terry, so it’s working overtime to … Continue reading →
With this restrained yet tour de force performance by Chris Wu in the silliest of all silly TW-dramas, he’s officially in my top 3 TW-actors list. It was always just two guys there for the longest time (Zai Zai and Roy Qiu), but now Chris has earned his way into my affection forever. I will watch him read a phone … Continue reading →
I used to think Godfrey Gao was the Daniel Henney of Taiwan – grew up abroad, speaks fluent English, model tall and ridiculously good looking, can’t really act but who cares in exchange for the eye candy. While Daniel hasn’t improved much in acting in the ensuing years, I’d say Godfrey has improved by leaps and bounds. He’s still not … Continue reading →
This C-drama will probably be stupider than a sack of potatoes, but heck if I’m not going to check it out just for Yoon Si Yoon. Before he did Flower Boy Next Door early this year, Yoon Si Yoon spent a good chunk of last year in China filming a modern C-drama called Happy Noodle with C-actress Li Fei Er. … Continue reading →
Okay, this is much better than I expected. Or maybe since my expectation was somewhere below rock bottom (yes, that is possible when dealing with the maestro toad of crazy that is producer Yu Zheng’s oeuvre), something that looks simple and lovely actually has the ability to instill hope back in me for the upcoming drama adaptation of Tong Hua’s … Continue reading →
Forget love triangles, that is so passé (Roy Qiu–Tang Yan–Tia Li what?, George Hu–Annie Chen–Gui Gui who?) – the hottest love gossip in Chinese entertainment is a freaking love pentagon! This shit is awesomely good in the “I can’t believe this is even remotely true” way, yet it is all over the newspapers and magazines when I was in Asia … Continue reading →
How is this even a scandal worthy of being on the cover of Apple Daily I don’t even know. James Wen, who is currently starring in King Flower, just celebrated his 35th birthday, and has released his first mini-album “Why Bother”, is flying pretty high in terms of his career. He got a lot of notoriety for playing the shittiest … Continue reading →
After the collective freak out and hernia two weeks ago at the Yun Zhong Ge Baidu bar over the casting shuffles and the possibility of Yuan Shan Shan taking on the leading role in Yu Zheng‘s drama adaptation of Yun Zhong Ge called Love Story of the Great Han Period, the drama quietly started filming yesterday with a confirmed cast that … Continue reading →
After a long four year hiatus from Taiwan idol dramas, Ady An is headed back to the island where she was last seen on the small screen in a little known monster hit called Autumn’s Concerto, which made amnesia and a certain little Xiao Xiao Bin popular. Since then Ady has been starring in C-drama after C-drama, a good mix … Continue reading →
