Two new snippets dropped for Dr. Stranger today to give a hint of what’s to come in episode 11. The production already released new stills showing Soo Hyun and Hoon goofing off around the hospital. It looked like he was flicking her on the forehead, which might earn him another kick to the nuts in the now patented Soo Hyun … Continue reading →
In what might be perfect as a parody project but is instead a serious undertaking, China is capitalizing on the success of the two biggest K-dramas last year by mashing the the two together into a nugget of sure-to-be pure awful. Filming begun last week on a C-movie called Heirs From Another Star (來自星星的繼承者們) which is literally the spliced together … Continue reading →
It’s been a particularly mentally exhausting week as a K-drama watcher following along with the current offerings. A few Wed-Thurs dramas got preempted for elections coverage thereby halving the drama fix, and then Dr. Stranger was the talk of the town in the Mon-Tues slot with its spectacular nose dive in logic, execution, plot, and continued fandom sniping behind-the-scenes. If … Continue reading →
Seeing a fantastic teaser that blows my mind makes me want to wax nostalgic about the good old days of cinema when there was fewer output but the masterpieces could stand the test of time. Nowadays content is everywhere and the proliferation of too much stimuli makes everything feel expected and ordinary. We’ll settle for merely good because most stuff … Continue reading →
Like many famous A-list Korean stars before her, Kim Tae Hee is finally making the logical jump from small pond to huge pond with her decision to join the cast of the upcoming period C-drama Sage of Calligraphy Wang Xi Zhi (书圣王羲之). She’s well known already with the C-audiences since some of her K-dramas like Stairway to Heaven, Love Story … Continue reading →
The Summer of 2014 will mark the first time in two years that So Ji Sub doesn’t have a Summer drama lined up. In 2012 there was Ghost (Phantom) and last year in 2013 who can forget The Master’s Sun. I’m pretty bummed about it because I’ve gotten used to So Ji Sub as a cool lollipop on a hot … Continue reading →
I tend to have good luck with music-themed K-dramas. Of course now that I’ve mentioned it means some sort of reverse karma will strike and Lovers of Music (Trot Lovers) will fall flat on its face now that I’m so looking forward to it. I like to laugh at drama fate so neener neener on this one, I’m going to … Continue reading →
Whenever I see an actor or actress working non-stop from project to project, like Choi Jin Hyuk starting last year with Gu Family Book to Heirs to movie The Divine Move to Emergency Couple to Grandpas Over Flowers Investigation Team to Fated to Love You, I get exhausted and want him to take a well-deserved break but then worry that … Continue reading →
When two beautiful talented successful people are in love and happen to be celebrities, the media wedding watch switches on the second the couple goes public. Movie stars Gao Yuan Yuan and Mark Chao have been dating for two years since meeting on the set of their movie thriller Caught in the Web. The romance was quickly acknowledged despite the … Continue reading →
You’re All Surrounded has settled into a comfortable cadence that is actually relaxing in its mediocrity especially when stripped of the seriousness around the police procedural aspects. I wasn’t wrong to expect this drama to have something interesting to add on its setting in a police precinct, but the sheer incompetence of the writer in tackling that genre took me … Continue reading →
A very angry C-writer Tong Hua just ripped C-producer Yu Zheng a new one and the week is already ablazing with fury. This is totally a grab the popcorn and sit back and watch moment but for the fact that Yu Zheng really needs to be stopped before he continues his unabashed idea stealing rampage. Tong Hua has turned her … Continue reading →
The month of May was chock full of K-ent dating and break up shockers but Chun Jung Myung‘s situation was a whole side dish of weirdness. PIE was spotted out on a date with a non-celebrity by Sports Seoul and his agency promptly admitted that the baby-faced actor was indeed in a newly developing relationship with a lady love that he met earlier … Continue reading →
Now this looks like a great Summer popcorn flick! The first teaser trailer has dropped for the upcoming Korean movie Pirates, which of course garners the immediate association that it’s going to be a Korean version of Pirates of the Caribbean. A bit of yes and no in that connection, yes it has Joseon era pirates but no it doesn’t … Continue reading →
