Well look’s who’s back. The lovely Jang Ae Yun, who I thought was doing a cameo appearance in Prime Minister and I to play the no longer present wife of the Prime Minister, appears confirmed to return to the drama in episode 13. Let’s hope it’s a one episode gig even if she is still breathing, anything more and I’ll … Continue reading →
I have a mostly love relationship with Jang Geun Seok. Even his last few years of strange musical choices and a rather party heavy lifestyle has only rendered me disappointed that he’s not honing his acting craft and instead indulging his youthful predilections. Nothing wrong with that but without a great drama or character under his belt it’s hard to … Continue reading →
Let me preface by saying this episode recap of Prime Minister and I will by and large not jump the gun on the big pink elephant in the room, namely whether Yul’s ex-wife Na Young is alive and what her return might do to this story narrative. I’ll cross that bridge if and when she gets there because so far … Continue reading →
I think the phrase jumping the shark doesn’t apply here to what just happened in Empress Ki. Since this is a sageuk and we need a bigger creature to leap over, let’s just say Empress Ki jumped the Megalodon in today’s episode 23. It was a whole new level of absurdity that I couldn’t stop watching. That episode was fast … Continue reading →
Who’s having a birthday! Not so baby boy anymore Lego Lee is who! Smack in the middle of the hottest drama of his career in In A Good Way, Lego celebrated his 28th birthday on January 19th with 100 of his fans. He paid for the fan party himself and despite the 7000 fans who wanted to attend only 100 … Continue reading →
I’ve been enjoying a two-fer on Mon-Tues with the juicy love triangle sageuk Empress Ki and the satisfying contract marriage romance in Prime Minister and I. This Monday both dramas are bringing in some new faces that may shake things up. Or not, maybe it’s just to have a little fun and then swan off. The just released drama stills … Continue reading →
Last week was the first ever Sina hosted Weibo Night 2013 to hand out awards to C-celebrities who have lit up China’s most popular online social networking service akin to a combination Facebook and Twitter. Even among a bevy of popular stars it was hands down the joint appearance of recently gone public couple of Nicky Wu and Liu Shi … Continue reading →
A new week is here which means two new episodes of Prime Minister and I is right around the corner. Thanks to the one-episode extension there are three more weeks left of this drama and I’m going to savor every minute of it. One benefit of recapping dramas (among many) is that it provides a good reminder of typical drama … Continue reading →
There are a couple of things I’m now certain of when it comes to Empress Ki. It’s still entertaining as all out what with the eye-popping plot developments with nary a boring moment in sight. C’mon guys, there are inexplicable time jumps and babies everywhere! It’s also clear that Seung Nyang is (1) delivering her royal Goryeo baby in the … Continue reading →
That was really mean of SETTV to not release a preview for episode 11 at the end of episode 10 of In A Good Way but thankfully that’s been rectified and now we’ve got a peak at what’s in store for civic right’s minded Jia En and her right hand protest man Liu Chuan. A key component of IAGW is … Continue reading →
Currently the cast of the upcoming KBS melodrama Full Sun is in Bangkok, Thailand filming the overseas shoot portion of the drama. Based on the synopsis the location shoot will be integral to the central plot. K-dramas are no strangers to overseas shoots and last year in 2013 there were some high profile such eye candy filming. IRIS 2 had … Continue reading →
This might be one of the cutest cases of meta-convergence of real life and reel life. Last week was the high profile C-celebrity wedding of C-actress Yang Mi and HK-actor Hawick Lau. It was a destination wedding in Bali and Yang Mi invited only one of her many celebrity friends and that was best friend Tang Yan who also served … Continue reading →
We got yet another fantabulous episode of In A Good Way as the college campus drama hits the double digits in episode count and keeps on delivering the goods. When Liu Chuan showed up at the end of episode 10 and decisively raised Jia En’s protest placard with his hand I was screaming in Chinese “Liu Shan Feng, you are so … Continue reading →
