When I was in Asia last week, the entertainment shows were all covering the expanding barrage of press material and activities associated with the upcoming period wuxia movie Saving General Yang. It premieres early April worldwide which is a pretty ballsy movie for a HK flick. Starring Adam Cheng, Ekin Cheng, Wu Zun, Vic Zhou, and Raymond Lam, among others, … Continue reading →
So I’m totally and completely jet lagged. Again. I’ve been doing international travel multiple times a year since I was 5 years old but good gracious the tolerance is inversely proportional to experience and instead manifests itself with age. As I painfully tossed and turned in my comfy bed, I ended up trying to watch random dramas to see if … Continue reading →
The best defense is a good offense? Park Shi Hoo’s new lawyer seems to subscribe to that philosophy because this morning it was revealed that Park Shi Hoo has filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Seobu (Western) Police station against his alleged rape victim A for blackmail, against A’s supposed best friend B for defamation, and against the director of … Continue reading →
It’s been a week since Yoon Si Yoon wrapped up a successful run as free-spirited Enrique Geum on the youthful cable rom-com Flower Boy Next Door co-starring Park Shin Hye and Kim Ji Hoon. Contrary to my initial worry that I would be torn between two leading men that I love equally, the story made the decision easy for me … Continue reading →
We’re one week out from the premiere of The Best Lee Soon Shin and I’m getting more and more excited. I always want to like at least one weekend family drama a year because its makes a nice contrast to the sleeker fare of the primetime shows. It’s predecessor My Daughter Seo Young has done such phenomenal ratings and TBLSS … Continue reading →
The long-discussed sequel to the 2011 time-traveling period C-drama hit Bu Bu Jing Xin started filming this weekend. The first scene filmed was between Liu Shi Shi and Ye Zhu Xin who played 10th Prince in the original. The sequel is given a different but similar name of Bu Bu Jing Qing (Startling Love with Each Step) and is set … Continue reading →
Sometimes a mega ad campaign works wonders to gain brand recognition. A few years ago, Shiseido got Oguri Shun, Eita, Tsumabuki Satosi, and Miura Haruma together to hawk its line of hair car products called Uno Fog Bar. See, I’m not even a guy, and I don’t live in Japan, but I know that product thanks to a totally awesome … Continue reading →
The police investigation into the alleged Park Shi Hoo rape case has concluded its preliminary interview phase a full 2 weeks after the allegations were raised, finally interviewing Park Shi Hoo and K (24 year old actor Kim Hee Jun) on March 1st at the Seoul Seobu (Western) Police Station. Park Shi Hoo’s interview lasted 10 hours and he left … Continue reading →
Just days after Roy Qiu went through a potential romance with Tia Li (he shot that down as pure media conjured nonsense) and a break up with never-confirmed girlfriend Tang Yan, he showed up with his co-stars Li Sheng and Myolie Wu at a press conference for their upcoming modern C-drama Wine Beauty (official English title). After Tang Tang’s assistant … Continue reading →
Shin Mina is such an endorsement queen in Korea that it’s not surprising she’s not in more movies or dramas. I don’t have a problem with her trove of endorsement deals since she’s a completely winning model, with legs that seemingly go on forever and dimples that fairly mesmerize the viewer into heeding her siren’s call and go out and … Continue reading →
He’s baaaack! After successfully carrying on a long distance relationship and wooing his poor woman, this rich man is finally returning to the small screen to delight us all again with more of his quirky antics. Rich Man, Poor Woman had a relatively successful run last Summer and enough of a fan base that the network announced in December that … Continue reading →
That Winter, The Wind Blows is so beautiful its like a Winter watercolor painting come to life. But for some reason it leaves me cold when I watch it. This is rather apropos for the title, but not good for making me addicted. A melodrama needs to hook my heart to care about its central conflict for it to work. … Continue reading →
On March 1 Park Shi Hoo showed up at the Seoul Seobu (Western) Police Station for his interview summons after police denied his latest lawyer’s request to transfer the case to the Gangnam Police Station. His lawyer stated that Park Shi Hoo is complying with the summons to get this matter resolved as quickly as possible since dragging it on … Continue reading →
