I think its harder for female actresses to attain A-list stardom than it is for men. The glass ceiling in every industry exists in entertainment, and in K-ent its especially hard for women because they need to have a pure good girl image for the ahjummas to want as daughter-in-laws, but then also subtly exude sexual charisma for the men … Continue reading →
An sageuk bonanza is coming soon so if you’re not a viewer of sageuks I suggest getting prepped to checking them out. I love sageuks, my first K-drama ever was a 55-episode sageuk, but lately nothing from that genre has been able to hook me. I’m hoping that’ll change starting next month onward because a deliciously meaty sageuk is always … Continue reading →
I know I promised to write about period C-novel Hua Xu Yin but I’ve really been so swamped with everything going on it keeps getting pushed back. The good news is that the first official stills are out of the drama adaptation called The City of Devastating Love. I’ve said before that the story is being changed significantly in its … Continue reading →
Kim Bum is really on a roll right now with his acting career. I can safely say he’s been making all the right decisions since he broke out with East of Eden playing the younger version of Song Seung Heon. He was one of the Korean F4 in Boys Before Flowers, he pulled a Yoo Seung Ho in Missing You … Continue reading →
Looks like there is trouble brewing in the never-confirmed romance between Roy Qiu and C-actress Tang Yan, and its in the form of the very similar in style Tia Li. I’ve long accepted that Roy has a type and its totally not the type I like for him but I’m cool with my guys dating as they like. Roy has … Continue reading →
While I’ve posted recently about upcoming discharges such as Im Joo Hwan and Kim Jae Wook, not to mention Rain is making news for managing to get himself a girlfriend in popular actress Kim Tae Hee while he is still in the army (what can I say, guy’s got game), there are quite a few entertainers serving their duty in … Continue reading →
I hope these two walk down the red carpet and put a ring on their five year relationship soon, because it’s sure to be the most high profile Taiwanese celebrity wedding of this new century and every single Taiwanese celebrity will be in attendance. Ethan Ruan jetted to Milan right after he was released from serving a year of mandatory … Continue reading →
Flower Boy Next Door successfully wrapped up its too short 16-episode run with a satisfying and meaningful conclusion to the journey. Lessons were learned, laughter and tears flowed aplenty, and by the end I was smiling from ear-to-ear even as I already felt a whift of nostalgia that this is the end. I’m glad I kept the faith because the … Continue reading →
The Park Shi Hoo and K rape allegation investigation continues to develop in ways that are absolutely baffling. I’m really neutral towards Park Shi Hoo as an actor and entertainer prior to this scandal breaking, so my coverage of the developments is neither motivated by liking him or disliking him. I am, however, really perturbed by everything surrounding this unfolding … Continue reading →
When I saw these new pictures of Park Shin Hye for the Spring collection of jeans and denim for Jambangee (hilarious name, BTW), I actually gasped out loud. Who else got flashbacks to baby Brooke Shields and her “Nothing gets between me and my Calvins” ad campaign? Or did I date myself? Or not, since I could just be very … Continue reading →
We’ve one episode to go with Flower Boy Next Door and this drama hasn’t let me down yet. Even the angsty previews for episode 15 turned out to be issues that could be worked through and our OTP continues to work through them. I’m traveling for work this week and the most I can muster up are baby recaps in … Continue reading →
Yu Zheng‘s The Swordsman, a complete massacre of the classic wuxia novel Smiling Proud Wanderer, is so so SO bad I cannot even write about it. Talking about that atrocity is like pouring boiling water over a fresh burn. Much as I would like him to retire from producing dramas immediately, the man isn’t going anywhere and he has in … Continue reading →
There are considerable similarities in law enforcement and criminal investigation in most developed countries, though the common law versus civil law countries have their own unique divergences in criminal procedure. I don’t know Korean criminal law but the Park Shi Hoo and “K” sexual assault allegation investigation is taking a turn for the strange and not very transparent. Both Park … Continue reading →
