Love. LOVE. I love it, I love it, I love it! Episode 1 of The Moon that Embraces the Sun was everything I wanted, and then some. Heavy political intrigue, gut-wrenching betrayals and sacrifices, the headiness of young love, this drama might just have it all. It’s beautifully filmed, gorgeously scored, and wonderfully acted. It just hit the trifecta of … Continue reading →
New year, new ArJoe. Maybe it should be call ArJoeRain? Both Ariel Lin and Rainie Yang posted pictures on their respective Weibos today showing that the longtime good friends hung out with mutual friend Joe Cheng over the holiday weekend. They dined at a restaurant owned by Joe called Destino located in Taipei, and both ladies were thrilled to have … Continue reading →
What a wild ride the promotional circuit for Wild Romance has been. My interest in this sucker keeps revving upward against my better judgment, until this final long preview for the drama tips it over into the OMG-I-Love-It edge. WR has tons of physical humor which the two leads are completely game to tackle. I find it funny and good-natured, … Continue reading →
The more I listen to Liu Shi Shi and Nicky Wu‘s duet version of “A Season of Waiting”, the more I’m convinced the drama failed big time in not making this version part of the OST and the drama scoring. Its succeeded in making me all schmoopy over Bu Bu Jing Xin again. Hearing 4th Prince and Ruo Xi sing … Continue reading →
Gimme gimme gimme! I need The Moon that Embraces the Sun so badly I’m actually willing to just erase 24 hours off my life clock so I can get to tomorrow quicker. The cast held a press conference for the drama where the young and pretty cast was in costume to meet the press. Kim Soo Hyun revealed that Song … Continue reading →
Vic Zhou and Ella continue their seemingly interminable promotional tour for their movie Perfect Two, which opens in 3 weeks in Taiwan and Mainland China. If this movie tanks at the box office, it won’t be for the lack of trying. Clearly Zai Zai continues to exhibit all signs that he’s been abducted by an alien (or an Ella) and … Continue reading →
I’ve checked out a slew of new dramas in the past few months but never write about them because its first episode simply failed to capture my interest. In the past I’d probably keep on watching, but lately I’ve got no motivation to plow forward. When I casually started to watch episode 1 of History of the Salaryman, which premiered … Continue reading →
It’s that time of the year again, resolutions galore about eating less and exercising more, and pretending there is a chance to watch less dramas in 2012 than the previous year. This week sees the premiere of four new prime time K-dramas, and concurrently a bunch of press conferences just took place. Wild Romance with Lee Dong Wook and Lee … Continue reading →
It sucks to be me, surrounded by family members who are so late on the Bu Bu Jing Xin bandwagon that I had another one marathon the entire thing in four days this week and then want to talk about it afterwards. I’m still vaguely dehydrated just thinking about it. But happiness abounds in my fantasy BBJX land, as Liu … Continue reading →
Office Girls isn’t just content on coasting by with its top-ratings, which is surging close to breaking 6 again, its actually trying to end the drama with a bang instead of a whimper. Episode 20 was great, taking the angst and filtering it into pushing Zi Qi and Xing Ren’s relationship forward past even the landmines Kai Er is building. … Continue reading →
The only drama Song Joong Ki did in 2011 was an extended cameo performance in Tree with Deep Roots, playing the younger version of King Sejong. His performance was so electrifying that it netted him an award at the year end SBS Drama Awards, which is just a pat on the back even if his was wholly deserving. He held … Continue reading →
The Da Ren Wu (Big Shot) Photo Charity Exhibition is still going on in Taiwan, and the organizers have released a few more pictures I haven’t seen before as well as a thrilling official making of video. It was a herculean effort that involved 72 behind-the-scenes talented artists plus 39 stars gamely doing whatever was asked of them. Li Wei, … Continue reading →
Since starting their acting career together ten years ago in the movie Blue Gate Crossing, Kwai Lun Mei and Bolin Chen have remained close friends even as they have gone their separate ways in acting projects. Producers would love to reunite them, and recently there was talk of the two of them being the leads for the upcoming drama Souls … Continue reading →
