In the future, all K-drama white knights have a lot of live up to. Han Kang is taking the role of the devoted friend to a new level of effectiveness, not content with just doing little things to support Ji Hyun, he’s almost singlehandedly making her last wishes comes true and sustaining her on her three tear quest. Normally he … Continue reading →
At just 26 years old, it’s rather astounding to know that Rainie Yang has been in the industry toiling for 10 years already. Starting with being in a much-too-short-lived girl group and a very supporting turn in Meteor Garden, she’s come a long way to be crowning Taiwan’s reigning acting queen. I still contend Hi, My Sweetheart was a travesty … Continue reading →
Looks like GTV is ramping up the publicity for Mike He and Cyndi Wang‘s Mei Le, Go. I can’t say I’m excited, but I’m game for the drama potentially being good. After watching the teaser, I find that highly unlikely to happen. What is with the recent spate of random and weird drama previews? This teaser convinces me that (1) … Continue reading →
While no official confirmation has been released thus far, the chatter on Weibo have pretty much confirmed that Tangren Production‘s next drama will be an adaptation of Louis Cha‘s (Jing Yong) last and most iconic novel Duke and the Cauldron (also known as Duke of Mount Deer). While Tangren’s completed Qing dynasty time travel drama Bu Bu Jing Xing remains … Continue reading →
Li Yi Feng has been a busy boy since wrapping Sunny Happiness last year. He filmed a TW-movie Love Phobia with Ariel Lin, and for the early part of 2011 he was filming the C-drama remake of the K-drama White Lies. The drama wrapped production last month, and today released the first poster. While my Feng Feng’s hairstyle has much … Continue reading →
With less than three weeks away from the premiere of City Hunter on SBS, right on schedule, the first teaser trailer has dropped. Y’all know I read City Hunter the manga, and I’ve been internally reconciling all the changes to the original story concept to this K-drama adaptation, so I figure I’m ready for anything CH wants to throw at … Continue reading →
The just wrapped K-movie Chilling Romance, with Lee Min Ki and Son Ye Jin, released a few new stills as the movie enters post-production. Lee Min Ki has a slew of movies either just finished or lined up, so I don’t think we’ll see him back in dramas anytime soon. Neither does it look like Son Ye Jin will leave … Continue reading →
I totally lost interest in Midas during the second half, and really its for no other reason than ultimately the story didn’t interest me. The acting was good, directing was excellent, a great OST – all in all a solid K-drama. I will probably watch it all in one sitting after this currrent drama glut ends. Another reason I had … Continue reading →
Right now, 49 Days is entering its final stretch with heightened emotional intensity, Best Love premiered with both feet on the ground and is off running, Drunken to Love You is leaving a wake of TW-drama addicts pining for the next hit – all of this means I am recapping more (and longer) than I have ever done before. Starting next … Continue reading →
Oh this is priceless. Looks like peeps over at CTV heard the chatter about their ridiculous written previews (or shall I call them written recaps), because the preview for episode 4 of Drunken to Love You is witty but comparatively succinct. Part of me goes yay, part of me goes nay. What can I say? I’m a complicated person. … Continue reading →
Now that’s more like it, kids! After holding a fan meeting for Playful Kiss in Japan, where Kim Hyun Joong and Jung So Min were adorable together but less touchy-feely than I would have liked, the two of them attended a press conference the day after to answer more PK-related questions for the Japanese media. All I know is that … Continue reading →
[Update: shared my closing thoughts below, whatever that’s worth, heh] I’m running out of ways to explain how 49 Days keeps getting better and keeps changing the game. If the first eight episodes were like my dog Maru turning in circles chasing his tail (he’s not terribly bright, and the first 8 episodes of 49 Days were not terribly good … Continue reading →
The title of Best Love is a play on the name of heroine Gu Ae Jung. Ae Jung means love – so is Best Love supposed to mean Ae Jung is the best, or that a best kind of love this way comes for the characters? Let’s accept that it’s probably both, because the resident love herself, Ae Jung, is … Continue reading →
