C-drama The Double is airing with so much buzz right now and all involved are reaping the rewards: acting, writing, and directing. The director is an industry vetern named Haozhe Si (also known as Lü Hao Ji Ji) and is the son of famed writer Hai Yan whose works have been adapted into many C-dramas and movies and made many actors … Continue reading →
I thought the kerfluffle over the Magnolia Awards nomination for Best Actor had died down, to which I mean Wang Yibo‘s fandom throwing an absolutely fit and melting down over Wang Yang getting the nomination for their drama War of Faith. This weekend it was reignited when the L’Officiel Hommes China cover and pictorial featuring Wang Yang was released. There … Continue reading →
So the failure of Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact is already having immediate ramifications. The next two installments Love in Pavilion and Sword and Beloved have ceased all pre-airing work and will not air this year as planned, getting delayed into 2025 at the earliest to try and salvage this IP with the viewers. Both Yang Mi and Gong … Continue reading →
The fallout from the doctor strike in South Korea earlier this year stemming from the government wanting to increase more medical school students to ease the doctor shortage continues to impact what was once a highly anticipated K-drama. Resident Playbook, the spin-off of Hospital Playlist, was supposed to air on tvN after Queen of Tears in May 2024 but was … Continue reading →
I love seeing a drama go the extra mile and do promos at the very start of filming, if done right it sets the mood so well like here for the modern romance C-drama Be Passionately in Love. The drama stars Liu Hao Cun and Wang An Yu and from the first posters and preview looks right up my alley. … Continue reading →
If you asked me at the beginning of 2024, I certainly would not have put “loving a Yu Zheng produced C-drama” on my drama bingo. And yet here we are and I am so addicted to The Double it’s not even funny, and it doesn’t have have romance yet through episode 25! More than halfway done and the OTP hasn’t … Continue reading →
The Motel California will soon be open for business with confirmed leads which means filming is starting soon. The healing romance K-drama has confirmed Lee Se Young and Na In Woo which I earlier said fits that current IT trend of insanely tall dude and teeny tiny girl as seen on Lovely Runner. I am fine with this cast as … Continue reading →
Casting has been completed just in time for the kick off of filming for C-drama Wan Xin Ji (绾心记) starring Li Qin and Chen Zhe Yuan. The supporting leads are quite young and in the up-and-coming category with Xiao Meng and Chen He Yi. Not much to say about this yet, glad all the Chen Zhe Yuan casting and billing … Continue reading →
The powerhouse pairing of Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo in a K-drama is shaping up more and more and we have the first person to join the supporting cast. It’s idol turned actress Seolhyun as she has been cast in the drama titled Show Business. It’s from the PD of Coffee Prince and award winning screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung … Continue reading →
C-actress Tian Xi Wei worked last year with Dylan Wang in period drama Guardians of the Dafeng and seems to have taken a page from his project selection. So the better than expected reception for revenge period C-drama The Double has led to producer Yu Zheng being on cloud nine and even more outspoken than usual. He released new stills this week for Dragon Boat Festival for his currently filming C-drama Lin Jiang Xian (临江仙) formerly called There is a Fox in Hengmen. I have no idea what’s … Continue reading →
There may be a quick reunion between Wang Xing Yue and Lu Yu Xiao after working on just filmed drama together Perfect Match they may do another next. The drama is adapted from the C-novel Liang Chen Mei Jing (良陈美锦) which is a homonym for 良辰美景 which means fine time, beautiful scenery but here the Chen is a last name … Continue reading →
Well, the first big flop of C-drama land 2024 is unfortunately going to be Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact. There are way worse dramas this year and lower viewership but compared to the astronomical budget and mega star studded cast of this drama then this drama has underperformed to a record degree. The drama is reportedly now abandoned by … Continue reading →
