Methinks the same-sex female fans of K-dramas and movies have a certain style, and it’s pretty consistent even through the years. There is a new poll of lesbian viewers of K-ent and their favorite actresses, which is always interesting because it’s like asking what’s your dish verses simply who looks ideally pretty or cool. The #1 pick is Kim Tae … Continue reading →
The summer time look has one element that consists of wet and/or messy hair like you just got out the ocean 30 minutes ago and hastily donned a land lubber outfit. It’s not my favorite look as it’s hard to pull off, one has to look a million bucks so that the flat hair doesn’t drag down the vibe. Park … Continue reading →
This is admitting a super shallow task but still worth polling what viewers think. Song Joong Ki recently finished hit drama Vincenzo where he got praise for acting and for his incredibly handsome visuals. He’s always been a looker since his debut and recently he was asked to pick the performance he believes to be his own visual pinnacle/top. Song … Continue reading →
It’s one of the mysteries of K-drama land where a precocious and adorable child star will after the time jump turn into the male or female lead who looks nothing alike. I mean, pre-teen Yeo Jin Gu turned into 25-year old Kim Soo Hyun in The Moon Embraces the Sun and today Yeo Jin Gu is himself 25-years old in … Continue reading →
The list of models turned actor in the last decade in South Korea is aplenty but the top undoubtedly remains Kim Woo Bin followed by Ryu Jun Yeol. Towards the bottom there are quite a few more conventionally handsome tall hunks who are less nuanced and adept at acting, and yet I just have a soft spot for them. I … Continue reading →
Not every cable network drama is a sure winner and this year jTBC has now had two high profile missteps. First with Sisyphus: The Myth and now the newly arrived Saturday college messed up romance Nevertheless. The first episode started of with an okay 2.2% ratings and this week’s second episode dropped precipitously to 1.3%. For a cable drama that … Continue reading →
Okay, this story is making mainstream papers and really hitting a nerve so worth delving into. Last week the latest period fantasy C-drama (xianxia genre which means gods and wuxia combined) Ancient Love Poetry was released starring Zhou Dong Yu and Xu Kai. This is her first period C-drama role and she’s playing a mythical goddess in those typical xianxia … Continue reading →
I love a fast and fun heist money, even ones that are not perfect can still deliver a worthwhile two hours of entertainment. A big budget star studded one is coming soon from Netflix which is also expanding its Korean movie production and this one sounds fantastic! The streaming giant is funding the production of Seoul Vibe (Seoul Battle) and … Continue reading →
My initial rabid adoration of tvN Wed-Thurs drama My Roommate is a Gumiho (Frightening Cohabitation) has calmed down to sweet satisfaction, this drama is still my bae in every way and I’m getting around to appreciating its unexpected cadences. It’s less hokey and slap stick, more sensitive and serious, and somehow balances staying just so cute and charming. I thought … Continue reading →
K-actress Park Min Young will be making her small screen return in 2021 with the fall cable network jTBC drama Office Romance Cruelty, which I don’t love the title but eh not a deal breaker. The drama is filming now and this week Park Min Young was spotted in character doing a scene outdoors. My interest got piqued to see … Continue reading →
This week on June 22nd was Hallyu superstar actor Lee Min Ho‘s 34th birthday (35 in Korean years), and honestly he still looks like the same tall boyish cutie that stole my heart with his breakthrough drama 12 years ago in Boys Before Flowers. He was just 22 then, totally can’t believe how fast time flew! For his birthday, his … Continue reading →
The poll has released a list of popular 20-something actresses among the Japanese viewers, following the earlier list of 30-something actresses. This one really showcases the names that should be headlining the dramas and movies in the coming years as the female lead for roles set in their age range, there are so many who are not only fresh-faced and … Continue reading →
The rise and halfway fall of K-actor Jo Byung Kyu sorta got lost in the more high profile and more awful allegations of bullying that rocked K-ent in Feb-March of 2021, but he was still one of the key names in that group of stars being outed for causing harm during their youth. For Jo Byung Kyu, it was school … Continue reading →
