A Koala's Playground Posted on by

There are SO MANY new and young acting stars in C-ent it’s actually made me drop off most of my C-drama watching because there are no true stars (yet) in that generation which captivate me like the group which launched the mid-aughts. This year Marie Claire China held a Women in Power evening night out that clearly had the dress … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s clear idol-actress Hyeri is quite beloved and popular within K-ent, she is always friendly and sincere whenever I see her doing variety and interviews and so many other stars speak highly of her. So it’s no surprise that she got a beverage truck sent to her on the set of KBS sageuk Thinking of the Moon When the Flowers … Continue reading →

Namgoong Min is Bulked Up and Pissed Off in First Stills from MBC Revenge Action Thriller The Veil

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I still get annoyed when drama productions pick a Korean title and then choose an English one that isn’t either a direct translation or at least an approximation in meaning. Upcoming MBC action thriller Black Sun is now called The Veil which could point to whatever shadowy organization that male lead Namgoong Min is trying to topple. He’s been bulking … Continue reading →

Third Week Airing of My Roommate is a Gumiho Drops in Ratings as the Plot Stays Cute with Little Progression

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I still really enjoy My Roommate is a Gumiho but the crackiness of the first four episodes has died down a bit this week. I found episodes 5 and 6 to be sweet cute watches but it also felt like the plot didn’t move much. While Dam and Woo Yeo continue to live together and get to know one another, … Continue reading →

SBS Hit Drama Penthouse Season 3 Brings Back Park Eun Seok as Racially Offensively Styled Twin Brother Character to Logan Lee

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I still don’t know why viewers enjoy watching SBS drama Penthouse which has been the biggest hit on South Korean television in years and is now on season 3. It just feels like a star-studded makjang-ier version of hit cable drama Sky Castle, rich people in-fighting with a sprinkling of death and tsunamis of betrayal. With that said, my perplexation … Continue reading →

Ji Sung, Kim Min Jung, and Jinyoung Face Off in the Dramatic Spectacle of tvN’s Law as Theater Demon Judge

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I’m getting more and more excited for the upcoming tvN legal drama Demon Judge (The Devil Judge) since it just looks so cool and stylized. It’s a different take than the usual law drama and seems to posit the legal system as a cross between entertainment and theater. Ji Sung is the titular demon judge with Kim Min Jung as … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Remember Mainland China has tons of censorship rights and requirements on its stars to be upstanding role models for the public? Yeah, that’s going to now bite one more misbehaving loutish star in the arse AND cause drama viewers frustration as well. The C-drama adaptation of The Golden Hairpin (青簪行 Qing Zhan Xing) was one of the highest profile C-dramas … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

When you see celebrities frozen it time it seems weird, but much more cool to see them age but still look oh sooo enviably handsome/beautiful. It comes with the territory of being an actor or actress and this week I had another WTH moment when I saw tributes to K-actor and model Cha Seung Won who celebrated his 51st birthday … Continue reading →

I found this upcoming drama thanks to finding rising young actor Bae In Hyuk in My Roommate is a Gumiho, he is turning what would be an annoying playboy finds his real heart type douchey college boy character into an entertaining and kinda sweet second male lead. Turns out he’s getting another starring role as one of the trio of … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Week five of tvN Mon-Tues drama Doom at Your Service has not been kind to the series, recording a continued drop in ratings (episode 10 got 2.473%) despite delivering the type of fan service that would usually be enough for viewers.
