I wonder if short dramas will become more common place, what with shorter attention spans and the fast pace of entertainment consumption. KBS aired the period drama Youth of May very timely premiering in May for a 12-episode run which wrapped today. It’s a romance set in the college student setting in 1980’s South Korea specifically around the Gwangju Massacre … Continue reading →
Another manhwa is getting the K-drama adaptation and judging from the sheer volume of manhwas/webtoons in South Korea there will be no shortage anytime soon. The story is called Want to Do Nothing and deals with a 26-year old woman whose life falls apart in busy Seoul when she breaks up with her boyfriend she was discussing marriage with, her … Continue reading →
I mean, there are two kids under 10 involved so this isn’t funny nor something that should be handled via public statements but yet here we are, day 3 of the Barbie Hsu (Da S) and Wang Xiaofei pending divorce. Normally the non-celeb spouse of a star in Taiwan ent gets little coverage but Chinese business man and chaebol heir … Continue reading →
Since I don’t follow either Hyeri or Jang Ki Yong I genuinely have no clue what they look like for the most part outside of their currently airing drama My Roommate is a Gumiho. And there both are just jjjjjaaaaaannnnnggg to the nth degree, he’s captured the tall, handsome, but not overly brooding mystique and she’s just a bundle of … Continue reading →
Despite my love for Lee Bo Young I am staying as far away from her new tvN Sat-Sun drama Mine as far as my legs can carry me. Watching a(nother) chaebol family behaving badly drama is about as appealing as getting a root canal without anesthesia. Mine is doing great in ratings, not as high as predecessor Vincenzo but started … Continue reading →
I don’t think I would argue with this assessment even if it’s possible to make alternative arguments. But by and large it really has been an epic run for K-actress Gong Hyo Jin in her 22-year long career on South Korean television. Her movie resume is actually longer but for I-audiences it’s really the world of K-dramas where one first … Continue reading →
If I grow to like K-actor Na In Woo even more than I do now after his successful parachute in male lead turn in KBS sageuk River Where the Moon Rises, I’ll always enjoy the epic takedown I did of him in a blog post announcing his casting to replace Ji Soo and how much he sucked in Queen Cheorin … Continue reading →
Ooooooh, this looks so tasty a drama dish! The first stills are out for the fantasy drama The Witch’s Diner (Welcome to the Witch’s Restaurant) airing this July on streaming platform TVING. Starring Song Ji Hyo as the titular witch giving off plenty of Lee Man Wol from Hotel Del Luna vibes, the story centers around her opening a restaurant … Continue reading →
Welp, with Taiwan under the tightest COVID-19 lockdowns since the pandemic started 19 months ago, this is clearly going to be the biggest fish news for the tabloids. Taiwanese actress-singer Barbie Hsu (Da S) announced this morning to an Taiwan Apple Daily (owned by Next Media) reporter that her marriage is over to husband Beijing-born Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei and … Continue reading →
What a fitting first post on the first day of June, this year in 2021 is certainly a better spot than last year but even during the height of COVID-19 lockdowns there at least was the great outdoors to venture out to. K-actress Kim Yoo Jung has been the face of Fila sportwear in South Korea for many years and … Continue reading →
Man, if K-netizens collectively deserve to be punched in the face this instance would merit it. After My Roommate is a Gumiho premiered last week on tvN, K-netizens started to speculate and discuss that female lead Hyeri and her former Answer Me 1988 costar and real life boyfriend Ryu Jun Yeol must’ve broken up because she’s too friendly with Roomie … Continue reading →
I don’t think anyone would be surprised to hear that maybe top stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin are heading towards marriage. They have been dating since finishing Crash Landing on You, though fans of either may believe their relationship predates the drama and started after they did Negotiation in 2018 when they were spotted in a Los Angeles … Continue reading →
I think this case has many different elements at play so how you react depends on what issues you find more problematic. Top movie actor Ha Jung Woo was being investigated last year by the Gangnam police for unauthorized use of the anesthetic propofol at a Gangnam clinic, including using a false identity to procure it. The investigation has wrapped … Continue reading →
