Mainland China isn’t just quarantining entire cities and perhaps provinces, now it’s ordering the stopping of commerce as needed. C-ent is getting it’s first order this week as the central government ordered a complete and immediate stoppage of all drama filming. So the city of Hendian has ground to a total halt and major dramas being filmed there include high … Continue reading →
Woah, this was unexpected but then again probably make sense considering the source material. Newly arrived jTBC Fri-Sat drama Itaewon Class arrived this Friday and dropped nearly 5% ratings in its first episode, taking in 4.983%. That’s nearly 2% higher than predecessor Chocolate’s premiere episode. Audience and critic feedback has been positive and strong as well so this drama looks … Continue reading →
I feel cold when I see the new drama posters for upcoming jTBC romance I’ll Find You When the Weather is Good, at the same time it gives me heart warm and fuzzies. Leads Seo Kang Joon and Park Min Young are framed against the backdrop of light snow but it’s clear that the weather is warming up since they … Continue reading →
As TW-ent recently looked back on who it considers the reigning K-drama kings of the last decade, this week K-ent published an article looking forward at what it sees as the four highest profile Hallyu actor and projects in 2020. On the drama front it’s Lee Min Ho reuniting with hit screenwriter Kim Eun Sook in The King: Eternal Sovereign … Continue reading →
I can’t believe the screenwriter found a way to flashback to one of Hyun Bin‘s most successful dramas and a scene that was quite memorable and problematic there but now gets a gender swapped redo. In new stills for episode 11 of Crash Landing on You, Son Ye Jin‘s Se Ri takes her North Korean hunky bodyguard Jung Hyuk shopping … Continue reading →
The most frustrating and high profile celeb cheating scandal in Asian entertainment was definitely last year in Hong Kong when Andy Hui cheated on wife Sammi Cheng with rising young actress Jacqueline Wong. It was annoying to see him crying, snot and ugly face and all, and then get forgiven by Sammi and taken back. I know it’s her decision … Continue reading →
I thought Hyun Bin‘s dorky military bowl-ish hair cut as a North Korean military officer in Crash Landing on You would bother me but it hasn’t. Credit to his natural handsomeness and the fact that it fits with Jung Hyuk’s stoic personality and his job needs. But that doesn’t need I won’t be loving his South Korean makeover now that … Continue reading →
A good writer never forgets and I remember when this drama was bandied about in 2017 for a K-drama adaptation. But three years later it’s totally different names attached but all is well as a restart should start from fresh footing. MBC is looking to adapt webtoon Shall We Have Dinner Together and the fresh names for the leads are … Continue reading →
It’s always nice to see the friendships behind the scenes in K-ent, the more connections people make the more support is around for life events. Comedian Park Seul Gi got married last year in 2019 and last week delivered her first child with her husband. This week she happily shared the present sent by her friend and dongsaeng Park Bo … Continue reading →
K-drama casting agents are like sharks pouncing quickly on breakout rookies and a new face just got a leading man role even before his drama has finished airing. Lee Sin Young, playing the stoic and handsome member of Hyun Bin‘s North Korea squad, will be headlining the KBS drama Friend Contract opposite also relative newbie Kim So Hye best known … Continue reading →
Lists are fraught with disagreement but I don’t think I find anything objectionable about this list. TW-ent ranked the top Hallyu K-drama actors of the last decade (2010-2020) and selected four still very active and marketable male leads Hyun Bin, Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Yoo, and Song Joong Ki. I don’t think any of these four could be left off … Continue reading →
This is a neat coincidence and probably means more viewers will be tuning in for the second half of this drama. SBS Mon-Tues medical drama Romantic Teacher, Doctor Kim 2, the second season of the hit original which aired in 2016, broke 20% ratings in today’s episode 8. The original also crossed the 20% mark in its episode 8, and … Continue reading →
This will definitely be a much discussed casting but I think it’s one of the more probably combinations considering the popularity of both. Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung are confirmed for the upcoming rom-com drama Convenience Store Morning Star, based on a webtoon and jointly financed by US channel Lifetime in its first K-drama production. Ji Chang Wook … Continue reading →
