South Korea’s vaunted TaeJiHye top three beauties is having wildly divergent summer of 2019. Tae is Kim Tae Hee who is currently on work hiatus pregnant with her second child with husband Rain. Ji is Jeon Ji Hyun who continues to rake in CF dough and just chillaxing already with two kids. And Hye herself Song Hye Kyo is having … Continue reading →
A congrats to the cast of crew of SBS Mon-Tues variety show Little Forest, a first for the network in slotting a variety in a time period traditionally airing a K-drama. The show came in first in ratings 5.1%, 6.8% opposite second place the MBC drama Welcome 2 Life with 4.4%, 5.6% and coming in third is KBS drama I … Continue reading →
With the truncated K-drama airing slots, there really is less and less for me to look forward to. Luckily SBS has already commissioned melodrama VIP for October 2019 in the Mon-Tues slot, which means it’s returning that time period to dramas after doing variety for the summer. VIP stars Jang Nara and Lee Sang Yoon as a married couple working … Continue reading →
Oh man, I can’t believe it’s already take off time for upcoming tvN drama Love’s Emergency Landing (Crash Landed Love). I hope/pray the drama doesn’t ever end up reflecting it’s title, what with any crash landings on ratings or expectations with big name headliners Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin together on the small screen. They play the OTP, of … Continue reading →
I don’t know if I’m disappointed because this is what was expected. With the Hong Kong democracy protests well into two months with no signs of stopping, all signs point to Mainland China escalating it’s countermeasures to curtail and end the movement. Chinese, Hong Kong, and Taiwanese stars who are working in K-ent as K-pop idols this week all collectively … Continue reading →
Well, it may be another day but it is the first controversy for K-drama Hotel Del Luna. C-netizens have unearth tons of side-by-side comparisons in over 6 scenes that they claim Hotel Del Luna plagiarized or ripped off from period C-drama Goodbye My Princess (Dong Gong or Eastern Palace). Goodbye My Princess aired earlier this year and is adapted from … Continue reading →
This is getting rather absurd but politics nowadays feels like the theater of the dramatics. More C-stars are cutting endorsement ties with luxury brands over how the brands refer to Hong Kong and/or Taiwan on it’s merchandise or websites. Model Liu Wen ended a years long partnership with Coach, Zhang Yi Xin (Lay) cut ties with Samsung, and him and … Continue reading →
tvN fantasy drama Hotel Del Luna is slowing down a bit for me, not as sticky fun to watch as the first 6 episodes were right out of the gate. But unlike the Hong Sisters last drama Hwayugi (A Korean Odysessy) it hasn’t devolved into nonsensical frustrating plot developments which I appreciate, it’s sticking to the core story of Man … Continue reading →
Woo hoo, this is such great news! A new romance sageuk is headed our way in 2020, with SBS picking up the K-drama adaptation of the latest novel by writer Jung Eun Gwol who also wrote The Moon Embraces the Sun and Sungkyunkwan Scandal. She’s like the Tong Hua of Korean period romance novels and her prior two novel adaptations … Continue reading →
For every action there is a reaction and that reminds me so much of Puff Guo and Jasper Liu‘s combustible leads in TW-drama Before We Get Married. She’s getting flack for playing the character that is less direct and has more to lose for making a leap of faith romantic switch but the drama needs her otherwise the two leads … Continue reading →
With the shrinkage of the K-drama airing times, with Mon-Tues getting put on hiatus or made permanent by the big three networks, there will also be fewer events K-dramas as before. The only big drama on deck for 2020 is Kim Eun Sook‘s fantasy romance The King: Eternal Sovereign with leads Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun. Kim Eun … Continue reading →
This is kinda a funny story, and not what I expected from the general trend of K-ent fallout. Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo‘s high profile divorce was finalized at the end of July, a month after he filed in mid-June. Both are Korea’s top stars and have massive endorsement hauls. K-news is reporting that since the divorce filing, … Continue reading →
You gotta know which way your bread is buttered, or as the Chinese saying goes don’t lose your rice bowl. C-actress Yang Mi is one of China’s biggest stars and has tons of fashion brand endorsements. She recently signed on as Versace‘s face for ladies couture in China but that was one short stint as she quit her engagement this … Continue reading →
