I’ve followed Hyun Bin’s career for so long that I’m able to spot a pattern and his latest drama Memories of Alhambra continues the trend. Binnie hits rating success when he plays anti-heroes/unlikable jerky male leads. Take his career breakthrough Jin Heon in My Name is Kim Sam Soon, followed by Secret Garden‘s Kim Joo Won, and now Jin Woo … Continue reading →
Well this certainly looks like the K-version has nailed the male lead for sure, always a good start to any adaptation. The first character poster is out for the K-drama take on hit J-dorama Legal High, with Jin Goo as the successful lawyer male lead taking on the role made famous by Sakai Masato in his oeuvre of creating quirky … Continue reading →
I didn’t watch the 2019 Golden Disk Awards much like I skip all Hallyu music related event unless one of my baes is involved and even though I just coo over their pictures. Such was the case with Lee Seung Gi and Park Min Young cohost this year’s event so I didn’t know they changed outfits midway through hence the … Continue reading →
Cable network tvN has a new record holder in premiere ratings in the Mon-Tues time slot, a quick one-up from the previous holder just six months ago. Sageuk drama The Crowned Clown (a remake of the movie Masquerade) launched today with 5.7%, breaking the premiere record of 100 Days My Prince with D.O. and Nam Ji Hyun which got 5.028%. … Continue reading →
Three talented Korean Korean stars are starting off January 2019 right with the release of thriller flick Hit and Run. Gong Hyo Jin and Ryu Jun Yeol play detectives going after baddie Jo Jung Seok with a need for speed and a disregard for traffic deaths. The three stars did a pictorial for Marie Claire Korea and are vamping it … Continue reading →
tvN Sat-Sun drama Memories of Alhambra is the comparative late bloomer of the high profile December 2018 premieres, having a weaker beginning that is being bolstered by increasingly strong episodes as the drama progresses. It’s headed towards the conclusion very in control of the fantasy narrative and has built emotional consequences so that I care about what happens to the … Continue reading →
Now might be a good time to get into jTBC Fri-Sat drama Sky Castle if you haven’t already and happen to have time to add another watch. The underdog drama which started off with mid-1% ratings in episode 1 has now risen steadily without any drop to hit 15.780% in episode 14. Mind you this is a cable drama and … Continue reading →
With 2018 winding down one thing I’m glad for is that the over-exposed and hype beast year of K-actor Jung Hae In is over. I say this because I like this talented young actor and think it’s for his own long term good to walk away from what is arguably his breakout year and take a breather from his breakneck … Continue reading →
I’m a petite person so I have a fondness for high heels and an inordinate ability to endure the discomfort. So it’s a great trend to see platform sneakers so popular the last few years, allowing sporty comfort to coexist with height boosting. Song Hye Kyo has been wearing heels for her current drama Encounter (Boyfriend) befitting her hotel president … Continue reading →
Korean polling site Good Data released on January 1 the results of the 2018 K-drama buzz meter, aka the most talked about K-dramas of the year. Coming in first is jTBC romance Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (Something in the Rain), which was fantastic for 8 episodes and then was just annoying for the rest. Second place went to … Continue reading →
Valentine’s Day feels apropos for the premiere of the C-movie version of It Started With a Kiss (Itazura Na Kiss) adaptation, this time starring TW-actor Darren Wang with C-actress Jelly Lin. It’s the umpteenth take on the story of a dim and persistent high school girl and her all consuming and ultimately successful crush turn romance with the smartest cutest … Continue reading →
I thought all the K-ent awards show were over but 2019 is a mere 5 days in and we have the 2019 Golden Disk Awards to kick off the trophies of this year, or maybe extend the awards ceremony glut from December. My interest in this music awards is purely that the producers got actor-singer-variety star Lee Seung Gi and … Continue reading →
K-actor Lee Jong Seok has been on a cosplaying streak in his adult acting career, once he finished with playing high school characters. He’s done doctor, lawyer, reporter and now editor/author/publisher for upcoming tvN drama Romance is a Bonus Book. The drama released a set of character stills for him that just looks like Lee Jong Seok dressed all snazzy and … Continue reading →
