It took me six episodes to get invested in Memories of Alhambra but better late than never. I really do love episode 6, it’s the only one I’ve felt the urge to rewatch and got more out of it the second time around especially the visceral fear yet tight control Hyun Bin is showcasing as Jin Woo. I hope the … Continue reading →
I normally don’t post script reading for movies but these two cuties have me excited for this gender twisted Joseon era romance flick. Junho and Jung So Min headline the movie Courtesan Bachelor about the first ever male courtesan (gisaeng) in Joseon and his romance with a progressive minded noble lady. It sounds adorable even in the wafer thin set … Continue reading →
I felt like this week’s episodes 7 and 8 of tvN Wed-Thurs drama Encounter (Boyfriend) felt like one very long episode, or at least the meat of one dense episode spread a tad too thin into two installments which is why I’m writing about both together. The romance between the OTP Jin Hyuk and Soo Hyun has started in earnest … Continue reading →
Now this is what I legit call a truly bizarre casting choice other than for the buzz. Suzy has been offered the role of Ha Jung Woo‘s wife in upcoming Korean thriller movie Mount Paektu (Paektu Mountain). Forget their twenty plus age difference in real life, in the movie it would only narratively make sense that Ha Jung Woo is … Continue reading →
This poll may not be large but it’s got an insider’s perspective on what was considered the best in drama land for 2018. Donga News polled entertainment industry insiders including directors, screenwriters, and producers to pick their top of the year on the television front. Best Drama went to Mr. Sunshine and coming in second was My Ahjusshi. Lee Byung … Continue reading →
There is a superstition not to confirm a pregnancy until at least three months and the high risk period passes. For married stars Liu Shi Shi and Nicky Wu I think they just don’t care to generate any publicity about their impending bundle of joy. Liu Shi Shi spawned pregnancy rumors in October by covering up her belly during CF … Continue reading →
The festive atmosphere is underway as Christmas is one week away and it must be a treat for Japan fans of Lee Jun Ki to attend his Asian concert tour titled Delight. He was spotted at Gimpo over the weekend heading to Japan, sporting a middle part longish hairstyle that’s still lighter in color as his preference in recent months. … Continue reading →
There is too much type and fancy new tech/fantasy in Memories of Alhambra that for many episodes it came across as too sleek with nothing hooking my emotions. Episode 6, and with smatterings across episode 5, flipped the switch for me thanks to Hyun Bin taking his performance up a notch. He’s still in charge Jin Woo as much as … Continue reading →
Another one heads off to the army and I’m feeling like this time away will be good for K-actor Sung Joon. It was rather unexpected to hear he was enlisting but that’s more due to his low key vibe and fanbase. He needs to come back with a rebooted vision of his acting trajectory, other than his representative work which … Continue reading →
This TW-actress has been to so many of her close age fellow actress weddings in the last few years the tabloids were getting ready to crown her a title that came from her biggest drama hit. Cheryl Yang was about to become a Queen of Failure (the Chinese title of 敗犬女王 Bao Quan Nu Wang from the TW-drama My Queen) where … Continue reading →
This is kinda a random award but apparently it’s the 23rd year of it so go figure. The 2018 KCA (Korean Consumer Association) Consumer Day Awards took place in Seoul this week with winners from the drama, movie, and music industries. Notable winners include Jo In Sung and his good friend and also dream actress to work with Park Bo … Continue reading →
When someone has been in the public eye for over two decades it’s hard to remember age because it feels like that person has been around forever. HK-actress Cecilia Cheung has been in the industry for over two decades and when news broke two weeks ago that she secretly gave birth to her third child my first reaction was concern … Continue reading →
Art isn’t something I expect to find in a K-drama, and it’s usually the opposite as many productions struggle to even craft decent posters and title designs. I was pleasantly surprised to see a full title opening for tvN drama Encounter (Boyfriend), an illustrated fairy tale-esque rendering of a princess, her rescuer, castles and winged horses, all the elements of … Continue reading →
