This may be the longest on the shelf C-drama with now going on 7-years that The Love of Hypnosis has been sitting in statis. It was filmed in 2017-2018 and was then a huge budget high profile drama with Crystal Liu as the top billed female lead with Jing Bo Ran as the male lead. Then the second male lead … Continue reading →
iQiyi is surely breathing a sigh of relief with the reception for it’s fantasy supernatural period C-drama The Demon Hunter’s Romance. The shelved for nearly two years drama airdropped in early April once the ban on female lead Song Zu Er was lifted and the result was better than expected. The drama got stronger than expected reviews especially for male … Continue reading →
Awww bummer I would have LOVED to see these two work together. C-ent casting gossip is saying that Zhao Lu Si was in talks for a period romance C-drama titled Yue Luo Hua Du 月落花都 which means Moon Falling on Flower Capital and if it was finalized would be her first drama since her medical hiatus four months ago. The … Continue reading →
So the Douban opening ratings of 6.9 are on the high side for modern romance C-drama Such a Good Love with Wang An Yu and Wang Yu Wen, which premiered in early April and concluded it’s rather mid reception run. The buzz just wasn’t there for this arthouse drama and the two leads are not high traffic stars, but it … Continue reading →
C-actress Yang Zi continues her streak of top billing female lead empowerment themed dramas and with her wrapping up Family Business (Jia Ye) last month she’s headed to the filming set for her next drama already. iQiyi this week confirmed the C-drama of Born to be Alive (Chinese title Sheng Ming Shu 生命树 or Life Tree) and will star Yang … Continue reading →
The premiere of long shelved xianxia C-drama Love Never Fails starring Liu Xue Yi with new female lead Hu Yi Xuan replacing cancelled actress Yuan Bing Yan has been received as well as expected. It’s May, hurray! I hate the fast passage of time most of the time except when it harkens the arrival of a drama or movie I’m anticipating. And this end of May will see jTBC drop Good Boy finally, and with it hopefully kickstarting a good summer in K-drama land. The drama stars Park Bo Gum and Kim So Hyun … Continue reading →
I don’t know what Youku was thinking greenlighting a C-drama with a nepo baby male lead and a female lead with negative rizz to headline but the results speak for itself. Modern romance Eat Run Love with Chen Fei Yu and Zhuang Da Fei wrapped it’s totally underwhelming viewership run and slinks off to the annals of utterly forgettable dramas. … Continue reading →
A new period C-drama recently started filming and it’s Blossoms of Power (Chinese title Bai Hua Sa 百花杀 which means hundred flower kill) adapted from the same name novel. The trickle is becoming a steadier stream and may portend the dam breaking soon. Last week it was reportedly that Disney+ told the production of K-drama Knock Off starring embattled K-actor Kim Soo Hyun that it would not resume filming and to go off and work on other projects and not be on standby anymore, basically indicating it was abandoning … Continue reading →
So this is getting messy and I’m not informed as to how to manipulate online voting for awards so this is just sharing the accusations being thrown around for the 2025 Baeksang Awards public voting for the Popularity Award. And this type of fandom fighting has happened in prior years with this award so it’s a new thing, just with … Continue reading →
A very public rebuke and distancing just happened in K-ent and is making huge headlines. Actor-singer Lee Seung Gi has announced that he and his actress wife Lee Da In have severed all ties with his in-law family (her family) on the heels of his father-in-law being indicted again for stock manipulation. The father-in-law is Lee Da In’s stepfather and … Continue reading →
Legal, medical, and procedural K-dramas are the tried and true three stalwart genres, when in doubt just bibimbap one of these with the usual elements but rejiggered. A new legal drama is coming titled Pro Bono which brings me back to my law school and early years of practice when I still had the fervor and energy for it. The … Continue reading →
