Even if KBS funky drama Manhole (Wonderland’s Feels or Feels So Good) turns out to be awful I will always remember enjoying the promos and always being taken off kilter in a good way. The individual posters are out featuring the lead foursome of Jaejoong, UEE, Jung Hye Sung, and Baro, with the unique casting coincidence of having three out … Continue reading →
There is shady and there is flat out a violation of intellectual property rights. Sadly the Chinese government is basically allowing a black market sweep of hit Korean shows after it imposed an unofficially announced but officially in place screw tightening on Hallyu entertainment after the South Korean government went ahead and installed the THAAD missile defense system last year. … Continue reading →
I’ll need some eagle-eyed readers to assist in determining what’s going on with Taiwanese musical superstar Jolin Tsai‘s look, one that is getting tons of netizen chatter over whether it’s just makeup, surgical changes, or a combo of both. Jolin has been on an Asia tour this summer and unveiled a new look with dramatic eye makeup and a black … Continue reading →
Now that Reunited Worlds has premiered on the SBS Wed-Thurs time slot it means the pre-filmed While You Were Sleeping is on deck. The drama will take over from Reunited Worlds in early September and with it show whether screenwriter Park Hye Ryun of Pinocchio, I Hear Your Voice, and Dream High can create another memorable work. In While You … Continue reading →
It’s the summer of Park Shin Hye pictorials and I’m not complaining because each have been distinctive and beautiful in highlighting her charisma even in print. The latest comes from Elle Hong Kong, portraying a couture society princess look that imagines if Park Shin Hye played one of the rich high school girl characters in Heirs rather than her poor … Continue reading →
There’s a positive update as any from ailing Korean actor Kim Woo Bin‘s camp, with the young man diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and halted all work activities to undergo intensive chemo treatment. His agency has updated that Kim Woo Bin has completed the first round of cancer treatment, with fans spotting the actor and his girlfriend Shin Mina … Continue reading →
I think it was a near impossibility to keep the dating relationship of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo truly under wraps. The two did a great job and the mainstream media helped by not covering the rumors and fan sightings for over a year until it really got more overt and serious. As such the Song-Song couple got … Continue reading →
Lee Dong Wook has always been leading man material and remains firmly in leading man territory, but it took taking a small step back to play the second male lead in Kim Eun Sook‘s last mega hit drama Goblin to raise his star to brand new heights. He put in a terrific performance as the Grim Reaper/Wang Yeo, and with … Continue reading →
Another one may be headed off to the military in what has been a steady drumbeat of enlistment in the last three months alone. Actor Lee Jong Seok has received his military enlistment notice for August 10th which is right around the corner, and his agency confirms the notice but Lee Jong Seok has not determined whether he will enlist … Continue reading →
First comes the shiny good news, then the messy stuff underneath that puts it in perspective. K-movie Battleship Island garnered the most opening day viewers in history, the spot hold previously by Train to Busan last year, but now how it got there is all over the news. Battleship distributor chaebol conglomerate CJ Entertainment is being accused of taking over 2,000 … Continue reading →
The more promos I see from upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama Manhole (Wonderland’s Feels or Feels So Good) the more I think the production is as aware of the title puns as the English speaking audience and is just running with it. The whole thing is screwball and that works well to humanize Jaejoong who typically comes across as a too … Continue reading →
It’s been so long since I’ve reported on a truly exciting Taiwanese idol drama that I almost had to rub my eyes when I saw the news today to make sure it was true. Indeed it is as idol drama veterans Rainie Yang and Blue Lan are returning to television later this year for the GTV series My Ex-Man, with … Continue reading →

The movie opened with 2,027 showings with an opening night audience of 970,516, breaking the record held by Gong Yoo‘s Train to Busan last year with … Continue reading →
