The Korean Advertising Association has weighed in again for it’s annual awards for the entertainers that were the most popular, i.e. helped sell the most goodies to ravenous consumers. The 2017 Korean Brand Awards will be going to boy group BTS for the singer category, variety PD Na Young Suk of Three Meals a Day, 1 Day 2 Nights, and … Continue reading →
There is a legal case in South Korea that involves the film community and pulls the curtains back on the production dark side of movie making. Famed auteur film director Kim Ki Duk has been sued by unnamed 41 year old actress A for violence and coercion stemming from his 2013 dark and perverse movie Moebius which involves family dysfunction, … Continue reading →
There is such an epic cringe factor with Jaejoong‘s male lead in the KBS drama Manhole (Wonderland’s Feels or Feels So Good) from the promos alone, I don’t know if watching him be a loser for 16 episodes straight will tax my patience. I need my loser-ish male leads to have some redeeming qualities of especially the man child type … Continue reading →
It’s easy to render an opinion on celebrities because they are in the public eye and any behavior or change elicits a reaction from audiences. Sometimes not doing anything is tantamount to doing something and that’s the case of K-actor Won Bin and to a lesser degree his wife actress Lee Na Young. The couple have been married since 2015 … Continue reading →
The summer of Park Shin Hye fashion pictorials continues and I’m glad this one from W Magazine is arriving towards the tail end because it’s my least favorite to date. W is high fashion in concept but this pictorial is more old-fashioned or at least it really ages up Park Shin Hye and wastes her young girlish charms. She actually … Continue reading →
Summer days reminds me at times of the fleeting shelf life of idol stars, even more precarious than their acting colleagues as popularity hinges on one song or even one performance. EXID‘s Hani is someone who was everywhere two summers ago when the group’s hit “Up and Down” propelled her to near instantaneous super stardom. Last year she was also … Continue reading →
The doctors of upcoming MBC drama Hospital Ship have been unveiled in all their medical glory, starting with the official drama stills of leads Ha Ji Won and Kang Min Hyuk. I am prayyyyyying to the drama gods that the two leads have chemistry galore despite the 13-year age different, it’s happened before with Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung … Continue reading →
Renowed C-actress classical beauty Crystal Liu gets her chance to play the now iconic role of fox goddess Bai Qian in Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms in the movie adaptation Once Upon a Time coming out this weekend. The role has a bar set by Yang Mi‘s C-drama take but that performance had nearly 60 episodes to … Continue reading →
Idol-actor Jaejoong has got to be one of the most visually good looking Korean male stars out there so there is an added chuckle factor seeing him act way dorky and now fully ridiculous in the latest batch of drama stills for Manhole (Wonderland’s Feels or Feels So Good). I don’t think anything can top the lulz factor of seeing … Continue reading →
This is a downgrade for me and I can’t believe I’m saying this because the original contender for the role isn’t my idea of a great thespian to begin with. First off with the good news, Jo Jung Seok has confirmed as the leading man for upcoming MBC drama Two Cops. Not so good news is that earlier in discussion … Continue reading →
I thought filming wrapped over a month ago for September SBS drama While You Were Sleeping but the wrap party was held this past weekend so maybe there was residual filming left for this fully pre-produced drama. I’m just glad filming really is done now that news is out of male lead Lee Jong Seok getting his military enlistment notice … Continue reading →
I do love a talented Korean flower boy, slurped up plenty of flower boy type K-dramas over the year as long as the acting is on point and the story charming. With that said there are fewer and fewer new flower boy types that correctly straddle the line between absurdly good looking but still maintaining the veneer of manliness, think … Continue reading →
Viewers on Mon-Tues tuning into MBC get to watch a sageuk era love triangle and who knows yet if A King Loves will actually have the king get any love back. The network is changing eras and genres completely with the next drama for that time slot 20th Century Boy and Girl, which is itself an anachronism since we’re in … Continue reading →
