Many of the 2017 K-dramas were announced in late 2016, and a few even starting filming last year already. C-netizens are also taking stock of the offerings soon to come and there was a recent poll showing which K-dramas are most anticipated there. Topping the list is While You Were Sleeping with Lee Jong Seok and Suzy, two popular K-stars … Continue reading →
Everything feels connected in Goblin in ways both substantive and logical within its fantasy narrative. Supporting characters tug at the heartstrings or make one seethe with anger, and guest starring roles are memorable and meaningful. The leads have the lions share of screen time but long after this drama is over I will also remember all the seemingly minor characters … Continue reading →
I won’t question the decision to do another US show K-drama remake despite the spotty track record last year. The Good Wife did relatively well in ratings but not the hit that was expected, and the less said about the abysmal ratings failure of Entourage the better. Third time may be the charm, at least I hope so if my … Continue reading →
With so Taiwanese actresses married off just in the last six months alone, the media interest into singer-actress Rainie Yang‘s love life has understandably intensified. The new year 2017 has brought Rainie out to a CF event debuting yet another new hair look. Gone is the beautiful purple hue from last summer during her album promotions, and the growing out … Continue reading →
This used to be regular news with respect to K-drama filming but in recent two years it doesn’t seem to happen with such regularity anymore. Thanks to some dramas switching to pre-filming, and perhaps earlier filming commencement for live aired dramas, the tendency for drama production to send cast and crew to the hospital has decreased noticeably. Unfortunately the situation … Continue reading →
I can’t be the only one worried about a potential truck of doom once Legend of the Blue Sea set its long awaited mommy-son moment in an intersection of all places. But then I realize that super strength Shim Chung is right next to mommy and can keep her safe, but it looks like the writer isn’t headed down that … Continue reading →
It’s clear that Han Seok Kyu isn’t just a veteran K-actor with widely lauded respect for his impeccable acting experience, he’s now got popular success to back him up. SBS Mon-Tues K-drama Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim has reached a new ratings high heading into the final few episodes of airing. Today’s episode 18 got 26.0% ratings, which the competition continues … Continue reading →
Mainland Chinese dramas have taken great leaps forward in quality in recent years, but the sheer quantity of output makes it a veritable smorgasbord of offering too voluminous for the novice to sort through. I only watch what interests me, quality not withstanding, and sometimes the sheer awfulness makes it worth the lulz factor alone. But for those looking for … Continue reading →
Gotta give Park Bo Gum personal credit for breaking the so-called Answer Me/Reply curse, the one which says the success of the leads from the drama series can’t be followed up in their next acting project. Park Bo Gum blew that hex out of the water with the incredible success and buzz of youth romance sageuk Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. … Continue reading →
It’s an all-around strong production team and cast for upcoming cable network jTBC drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, one that bodes well for the network delivering something bright and funny rather than it’s usual serious fare. Starring Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young, perpetual second male lead and scene-stealer in the right role Ji Soo adds a strong … Continue reading →
I may find Chinese drama producer Yu Zheng a giant turd of a personality and his dramas all fluff with no substance, lately he’s been producing extremely pretty fluff even beyond his usual level. The first stills are out for his upcoming drama Zhao Ge, which is the name of the capital of the Shang dynasty, starring Zhang Zhe Han … Continue reading →
This weekend’s episodes 11 and 12 of Goblin were epic, and in a way not relying on the sound and the fury of narrative excess but instead stringing along quiet moment of pathos that builds and builds. The ratings inched past the 13% nationwide AGB range for both episodes which remains an incredible feat despite the drama not reaching the … Continue reading →
I love Lee Jun Ki so much that I’ll even accept his triggering of a memory I desperately want to forgot. Lee Jun Ki was in Taiwan over the weekend and showed up as a surprise guest at IU‘s concert in Taipei. This reunion of the Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo OTP generated the opposite of squees from me in … Continue reading →
