It’s a relief that A-list Chinese movie star Zhou Xun‘s big C-drama return with the mega budget Qing dynasty drama Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace found her a leading man in Wallace Huo who can fully bring the nuanced emotions with just one glance. That both are married in real life doesn’t even register because they’re consummate professionals that … Continue reading →
Those curious and waiting for K-actress Moon Geun Young‘s next project after last fall’s moody intense thriller drama The Village (Achiara’s Secret) will likely need to book a flight to Korea to watch it. Moon Geun Young is in talks for the early winter stage production of Shakespearean star-crossed romance Romeo and Juliet. She’s up for Juliet of course, and … Continue reading →
It’s October which means the folks in the US is surrounded by all sorts of Halloween this and that. Ghost month in lunar new year celebrating Asian cultures is between July and August so the spate of supernatural dramas are over, except this cheeky goofing off picture between Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo leads Lee Jun Ki and IU could … Continue reading →
Things are quite in Kim Soo Hyun land, which is exactly up my alley since I worried he was burning too bright for the previous two years thanks to You From Another Star and Producers. The downside is that he’s not as ubiquitous so it’s harder to get updates on him, and for someone so insanely successful as a leading … Continue reading →
The glitziest night of Taiwanese television took place at the 51st annual Golden Bell Awards Friday night in Taipei. I only pay attention for the fashion and if certain TW-dramas or acting talent that I happen to like for that year are nominated, and this year it was all about Marry Me or Not with Roy Qiu and Alice Ke. … Continue reading →
Things are still looking up for Lee Young Ae‘s acting comeback after over a decade away from the screens, but this is one comeback that may have benefited more from the live shoot process than the current trend towards pre-production. SBS scooped up Saimdang: Light’s Diary and eagerly slotted it for a fall airing this October, but due to the summer … Continue reading →
This is a supremely odd combination but I guess an endorsement job is just a job at the end of the day. Song Joong Ki is repping the Playboy clothing label in South Korea, which is of course the same Playboy of the iconic bunny in a tux image and purveyor of sexy mags. The label has been licensing its brand … Continue reading →
Leave it to Su Ae to appear so effortlessly a rom-com female lead when she’s been away from the genre for nearly a decade which has been spent doing dark melo roles. She’s back in fine form in the first stills and teaser for upcoming KBC drama The Man Living in Our House which takes over from Moonlight Drawn by … Continue reading →
The minor K-drama awards circuit churns on with the arrival of the 2016 Korea Drama Awards, held in connection with the Korea Drama Festival. Kim Soo Hyun finally passed the Daesang baton on, after winning last year for Producers and the year prior for You From Another Star. The winner this year was Kim So Yeon for MBC weekend drama … Continue reading →
I totally bust a chuckle when I saw the first drama stills of Gong Yoo from the set of upcoming tvN fantasy romance drama Goblin. How can I not when nothing about these three drama stills remotely convey anything about the drama other than (1) Gong Yoo is gorgeous, (2) Gong Yoo looks melancholy and contemplative, and (3) Gong Yoo’s … Continue reading →
There’s a cute romance exploring anthology movie coming out soon that may be worth a glance or two. Because I Love You stars Cha Tae Hyun and is a collaboration with his producer brother after the two produced The Grand Heist in 2012. His clout and rolodex in the industry has assembled a cast of fantastics including Kim Yoo Jung, Seo Hyun … Continue reading →
TW-star Rainie Yang is delivering a two-fer comeback this fall. First came the release of her 10th studio album Traces of Time in Love, a lyrical and contemplative compilation of new songs that plays homage to her long career and riffs beautifully using her distinctive voice. Now comes her first TW-drama in five years as she headlines the second installment … Continue reading →
The twin assets of being young and beautiful typically append the third attribute of coolness. Youth and good looks elevates the visual and adds a veneer of hipness to whatever action is going in, and in the case of 1st Look Magazine pairing together actor Yoo Seung Ho with idol band EXO member Xiumin, hanging around grandma’s home on a … Continue reading →
