Looking ahead to the start of summer 2016, the coveted prime time Wed-Thurs lineup got finalized this week in terms of dramas scheduled. KBS had famed screenwriter Lee Kyung Hee penned Arbitrarily Fond with Kim Woo Bin and Suzy locked into that slot for months now to accommodate the pre-produced project that is intended for simultaneous live-airing in China. MBC announced last … Continue reading →
This is an interesting casting possibility on top of an already interesting casting discussion surrounding upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Doctors (formerly Female Gangster Hye Jung). The original title had more flavor but I can see the new title being selected for broader inclusion if the drama is about a group of doctors rather than focused solely on the main character. … Continue reading →
It’s only a matter of time before the C-media started comparing Kim Soo Hyun and Song Joong Ki, thanks to the success of Descendants of the Sun in Korea and China the drama is securely regarded as the next You From Another Star. The degree of stickiness of DotS has yet to be seen since YFAS was huge for more … Continue reading →
I’m definitely checking out upcoming MBC Mon-Tues drama Monster (Tyrant), it’s got Kang Ji Hwan and a guest starring turn by TW-actor Bolin Chen in his first K-drama, what’s not to love? The drama is gearing up for a month end premiere alongside direct competition in SBS‘s sageuk Jackpot and KBS going for quirky legal drama Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul … Continue reading →
It’s undoubtedly a steep hill to climb for Goodbye Mr. Black to bring in the drama viewers when it premieres this week. Any new drama has its work cut out to lure viewers in because of an interesting story or a fantastic cast, but that feat is future burdened when there is a hit already airing on the competition networks. … Continue reading →
Park Shin Hye hasn’t been in a K-drama since Pinocchio in later 2014/early 2015, but her absence from the small screen feels longer than that. I think I just miss her a lot, especially with Pinocchio being such a high point project in her acting career. It was a strong well-written female lead role and she got a costar in … Continue reading →
I firmly still believe that Jang Geun Seok still has what it takes, acting ability and hardworking desire, to advance his career as a serious young actor. It’s true that he’s not don’t anything substance in that pursuit for the last five years, whatever acting projects he’s done have been light and fluffy and played on his real life flower boy … Continue reading →
If this casting happens then drama fan girl allegiances might turn bipolar and it would be hard to blame them. Idol-actor Yook Sung Jae has been offered the second male lead role in upcoming romantic sageuk drama Moonlight Drawn by Clouds which is confirmed to headline Park Bo Gum as the male lead. Park Bo Gum and Yook Sung Jae … Continue reading →
The C-news is reporting on a possible ending spoiler making the rounds for Descendants of the Sun, which has a distinct possibility of being true rather than wholly impossible considering the drama is pre-filmed and the entire drama was submitted to China’s SARFT, or whatever ridiculous acronym it’s going by now, hence someone(s) outside of the production has laid eyes … Continue reading →
It feels like KBS drama Arbitrarily Fond has been filming for quite a long time but it’s actually only been a few months. The transition from live-filming to pre-produced isn’t new to other drama countries but for K-dramas it still takes some getting used to in expecting teasers and stills and whatnot. Arbitrarily Fond would seem like the perfect drama … Continue reading →
New C-drama alert, and this is capturing my interest from the outset. Production will soon be underway for the C-drama adaptation of the popular romance novel A Lonesome Fragrance Waiting to Be Appreciated (孤芳不自賞 Gu Fang Bu Zhi Shang). It’s actually more aptly translated as A Fragrance Does Not Appreciate Oneself, meaning that a catch requires an equal soulmate to … Continue reading →
I hope SBS drama Jackpot (Daebak) can continue the success of Six Flying Dragons but it’s not a sure bet since Jackpot will be up against contrasting competition with long drama Monster and legal drama Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul Ho. Also add Jang Geun Seok as the leading man when his popularity in Korea has decreased in recent years, but … Continue reading →
So it looks like this noodle god drama really is happening, even if the storyboard sounds weird, the time slot potentially even weirder, and the production team the weirdest of all. KBS has cast upcoming Wed-Thurs Master: God of Noodles to headline Chun Jung Myung, Jo Jae Hyun, Jung Yumi and Lee Sang Yeob. But the drama is following Descendants … Continue reading →
