I feel really conflicted about Kim Sae Ron‘s casting choices, not because I think she’s choosing poorly but more that gray line between acting and real life. She basically an undisputed child actress prodigy, but with it comes the desire to see her get any role that will showcase her talent yet worried that she’s getting leading roles much too … Continue reading →
New couple alert, and this one hits the double effect of being a huge shocker but making nearly all fans happy. C-actress Ni Ni, who is in the news a lot last month thanks to her ex-boyfriend Feng Shao Feng confirming a new relationship with the leading actress Jelly Lin of the movie The Mermaid which is breaking C-box office … Continue reading →
Consider me pleasantly surprised and not at all unhappy that the initial gloom and doom prognostications for upcoming otherwordly C-drama Ice Fantasy may not have been warranted. The first teaser trailer is out and does not look bad at all, and in fact look much better than I could have imagined possible. Still iffy on the story and acting but … Continue reading →
Usually the casting of male characters garners more buzz since the K-drama audience skews female, but there are three offers out for upcoming dramas that will likely elicit its share of feedback since the actresses in question are popular or currently getting a lot of exposure. Up first is SBS drama Doctors, formerly known as Female Gangster Hye Jung, which … Continue reading →
With main lead Kang Ji Hwan out of the bag for upcoming MBC drama Monster (Tyrant), it’s nice of the production to keep up the trickle of goodies to hopefully maintain momentum. The drama is airing on Mon-Tues after Glamorous Temptation wraps up so won’t be landing in the crowded competitive time slot that is Wed-Thurs where Descendants of the … Continue reading →
This Sunday SETTV premieres a new idol drama after wrapping up the highly successful run of Bromance. I normally love cross-dressing hijinks but that particular drama had me in the minority of not digging it. I also like Taiwan drama takes on workplace romances which fits the bill for upcoming Refresh Man. The English title is so random since the … Continue reading →
Hit period C-drama Nirvana in Fire (Lang Ya Bang) was many things, and one of them was the epic bromances all around. It wasn’t just one, or even two, but three and beyond, that’s some crazy tight characterization storytelling to showcase compelling friendships that aren’t one-dimensionally drawn. I could never decide which ones I liked best – childhood best friends Lin … Continue reading →
It’s with a heavy heart to share the breaking news that Taiwanese singer Selena Jen just announced a divorce from her non-entertainment industry husband of five years. Theirs appeared not a glitzy star coupling but one that seemed aspirational with the way he stood by Selena’s side during the two years intense recovery after her drama set accident where she … Continue reading →
C-netizens are buzzing about Feng Shao Feng‘s high profile current and ex-girlfriend being spotted in the same dress, which isn’t all that problematic but for the two ladies being visually very similar in goods and aura. A-list actress Ni Ni recently attended an awards ceremony in Gucci‘s long blue flower pattered dress, and the same recently appeared on rising young … Continue reading →
Park Bo Gum‘s hot property status in K-acting just got major confirmation this week as he turned down one drama supporting role only to land another drama lead role. Nice! After turning down Entertainer (Ttantara) Park Bo Gum is confirmed as the leading man in upcoming romantic sageuk Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. His involvement is enough for me to check … Continue reading →
As usual for a Kim Eun Sook drama, the romance may ratchet up a notch even if feelings and intentions aren’t always cleared up in advance. It’s less a stumbling fumbling type of confusion, belonging more to the complications of adults sensing too many practical incompatibilities but not being able to turn off the attraction nodule. I continue to like … Continue reading →
The speed by which Descendants of the Sun burst out of the gate is making it a drama Secretariat, poised for a wire-to-wire lead and getting such a head start that it can cruise comfortably. This will likely be the last post about this drama’s ratings unless and until it breaks 30%, but still worth one more chat about today … Continue reading →
The drama hasn’t even aired yet and already the bromance has brewed offscreen. That’s good since the two male leads will be direct antagonists in upcoming SBS sageuk Jackpot, better like each other during filming and then ratchet up the acting animosity when cameras roll. SBS kinda did the roll out a bit backwards with Jackpot, it dropped the first … Continue reading →
