Another Thursday and thankfully with it comes a return to form for Descendants of the Sun. I was wondering how the disaster aspect would unfold and it’s a major coup for the production for how visually impressive the events were staged and edited. The cheesy is on the story line in certain ways but the filming quality remains top notch … Continue reading →
The near universally derided as a flop quality and ratings-wise KBS drama Blood from 2015 finally has one successful thing about it to tout. The drama leads are dating in real life, yo! All joking aside, the news today that 33 year old Gu Hye Sun is dating 30 year old Ahn Jae Hyun is about as random as the news … Continue reading →
The drama posters for upcoming MBC revenge thriller drama Goodbye Mr. Black just dropped and is mostly dull and uninspired but for one sterling winner. The group poster above is a dead ringer for the types of movie posters in the Twilight movie series! I’m just waiting for sunlight induced sparkles around Lee Jin Wook to turn his Mr. Black … Continue reading →
I saw the drama version of cherubic angels singing hallejuah when I laid eyes on the wedding pictorial of TW-actor Nicky Wu and his C-actress wife Liu Shi Shi. The two have been legally married since last year when they registered their wedding, but in Chinese culture couples aren’t married married until they have the wedding ceremony with family and friends. … Continue reading →
It was yet another noticeable leap forward in ratings for Descendants of the Sun as episode 5 notched 27.7% AGB which marks a 3.3% increase from the previous episode. This drama isn’t only guaranteed to break 30% it might even do it this week, though chances are likelier to happen next week. With that said, DotS rise in ratings is hardly at … Continue reading →
I’m totally girl crushing on Moon Chae Won‘s short hair style in upcoming MBC drama Goodbye Mr. Black. It was goodbye long lustrous locks for her when she signed on for this project and I hope no tears were shed because it’s my favorite boy cut look ever. Park Shin Hye did it in You’re Beautiful and was more cute … Continue reading →
The WTF-ery of the Cheese in the Trap production team apparently refuses to stop even after the drama’s finished airing. One would think the production would do everything possible to avoid further uproar with anything involving male lead Park Hae Jin, but alas that line of thinking appears to be wishful and completely out of reach of an increasingly bizarre … Continue reading →
Even though the two male leads of SBS sageuk drama Jackpot (Daebak) are exactly 10 years apart, with Jang Geun Seok born in 1987 and Yeo Jin Gu in 1997, I have a good feeling the age gap won’t be a distraction onscreen when they play rivals. The production released two official drama posters each featuring the up close face … Continue reading →
Descendants of the Sun is off to as good a drama start as any in recent years but whether it’s going to be paradigm shifting remains to be seen. It has prompted mainstream Korean media portals to discuss how pre-producing dramas got a major boost in legitimacy and cost validation, but I think that’s still too early to give it … Continue reading →
I don’t know if Oh Yeon Seo has always been this good of an actress, or has gotten better now in Please Come Back Ahjusshi, or I was simply too hard on her in the past. She was never an actress that appealed to me on either looks or acting style, but in the last two years she’s made it … Continue reading →
It appears variety shows in China have truly crossed the line to mainstream and star-studded. Fans of TW-drama It Started with a Kiss (and maybe of the sequel They Kiss Again) were reawakened last week from years of slumber waiting for a third go around between leads Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng. Pictures of Joe and Ariel together started making … Continue reading →
MBC is going to face tough competition when it premieres two new prime time dramas in the coming weeks. First is Goodbye Mr. Black on Wed-Thurs, going up against runaway hit Descendants of the Sun and lowly rated but getting good audience feedback Please Come Back Ahjusshi. I think Mr. Black has a steeper climb compared to its same network sibling … Continue reading →
More daebak teasers from upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Jackpot and the intense eye stares has certainly shot through the roof. The production unveiled new drama stills of the veteran actors Choi Min Soo and Jeon Kwang Ryul, in a reunion from Warrior Baek Dong Soo, and both seem right at home in their roles. Choi Min Soo especially seems to … Continue reading →
