Thanks to the upcoming February edition of Girl Magazine, I now have a new potential drama pairing that for whatever reason never crossed my mind before. Roy Qiu and Kirsten Jen grace dual covers of Girl Magazine in a spread that straddles the winter and spring fashion divide since February is the month when it starts warming up in some … Continue reading →
With lunar new year over and done with, finally it feels like the never ending slew of holidays has passed and it’s time to get down to business. February marks the arrival of several high profile K-drama premieres, two of which are going head-to-head in three weeks at the end of the month. KBS is finally unveiling the fully pre-produced … Continue reading →
Filming is underway for the C-movie adaptation of popular fantasy period novel Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms, and the early conceptual and costume fitting stills featuring female lead Crystal Liu are stunning and exquisite. I have no doubts male lead Yang Yang, who looks like an Asian marble god statue come to life, will look just as … Continue reading →
I love screenwriter Park Hye Ryun so it’s bittersweet that she’s coming back this month with a new K-drama but it’s only going to be a short three episode special. If anyone can deliver something short and sweet it’s her, so many of Park Hye Ryun’s successful dramas like I Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio all made huge impressions in … Continue reading →
I’m probably most interested and curious in the KBS Wed-Thurs lineup in the new year of 2016 K-dramas. I don’t necessarily think it’s the strongest works in the making, nor have hopes that ratings will be good since that’s totally beyond prediction, but there are four dramas in succession that appears primed for buzz. Arriving on February 24th is Descendants … Continue reading →
There have been a few script readings recently but with this new addition comes the reminder that viewing trends are changing and cable may have been the new thing a few years past but now it’s onward to online dramas. The cast of internet drama Cinderella and Four Knights attended the script reading, looking as cheerful and focused can be … Continue reading →
Ji Soo is basically turning into not only a hot rising actor, he’s also racking up K-ent bromances onscreen and offscreen at a meteoric pace. First there was Angry Mom followed by Sassy Go Go, in both dramas he’s got a bromance thing going on, in AM with Ji Hyun Woo and later with Lee Won Geun in SGG. Next … Continue reading →
The adorable celebratory collage from the stars of Will Entertainment is the sweet and simple way to ring in the lunar new year of the monkey. Seeing the entire melange of actors and actresses signed under the label, these are some of the most low key and pleasant to watch bunch in K-ent. There’s Lee Bo Young, Kim Jae Won, … Continue reading →
In all my recent barrage of posts about Kang Dong Won‘s scene-stealing fashions while promoting the K-movie A Violent Prosecutor, I actually never discussed the movie even though I figured it would do well at the box office since the other male lead Hwang Jung Min has been on a slaying roll the last two years with wins. The movie … Continue reading →
Filming has started for the next SETTV Sunday night drama, which means I can start my countdown to no more Bromance and soon more Aaron Yan and Joanne Tseng. This is the perfect antidote to Marry Me or Not ending next weekend at a sweet and compact 15 episodes, which is something SETTV never ever does even when it has … Continue reading →
The last Fuji TV Getsu9 (Monday @ nine) dorama I watched was the thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable 5-ji kara 9-ji made (From Five to Nine) with Yamapi and Ishihara Satomi. I’m passing on the currently airing Itsu Koi (Love that Makes You Cry) from the title alone, but it does make me wonder if the network is planning to stick with romance … Continue reading →
Filming is quietly underway for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama Goodbye Mr. Black, will premieres in mid-March taking over for One More Happy Ending. That’s going to be a major tonal shift, which isn’t a bad thing since SBS shows that a revenge thriller drama like Yongpal can really snazzy up audience interest and conjure ratings. SBS has done doing darker … Continue reading →
I wonder if Kim Eun Sook is trying to make a pointed statement to counter the criticism that her Heirs thematic topic was superficial and slight, what with exploring the emo lives of the uber-rich teen crowd. Now she’s going substantive and gritty with Descendants of the Sun, the backdrop of humanitarian workers and peacekeeping troops in a fictional Easter … Continue reading →
