How nice of KBS to start off Monday and the first day of February with a nice jolt courtesy of the first official drama poster for upcoming Wed-Thurs drama Descendants of the Sun. What do you guys think? The poster may not be an immediate fave of mine but does combine the two seemingly disparate thematic elements of this story … Continue reading →
On paper this drama looks like a stellar arrangement from the leads to the supporting cast, made all the more pressing since there are quite a bit of unknowns on the line. Male lead Rain is making his first television return since the anemic My Lovely Girl, and here’s hoping Please Come Back Ahjusshi finds him returning to suitable form … Continue reading →
I love Kim Woo Bin but it’s getting harder to ignore that his main assets might also be a major drawback in career advancement. The boy is known for his unique looks, compared to a dinosaur for his towering height and strong jawline, but overall definitely someone who sticks out among the legions of pretty flower boy twenty-somethings in K-ent. … Continue reading →
Now this is what I call looking good for a fantasy wuxia conceptual character posters. The first official goodies are out for the C-drama adaptation of popular fantasy period novel Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms. This is the C-drama version that is filming at the exact same time as the C-movie version, so don’t get the two … Continue reading →
The Korean viewing audience has spoken and is predicting 2016 to be a good year for two acting talents. In a poll released in early January, domestic viewers were asked to name the most promising actors for the year and the winners from each gender just happened to be costars in a recently released movie. Kang Dong Won was chosen … Continue reading →
Lee Min Ho keeps winning awards, and this particular one feels super fitting for him. He just won duty free brand Lotte‘s Best Model award for 2015, which is no small feat since the brand employs many many Hallyu stars (idols and acting talent) to pose for various campaigns. The win feels rather empty since Lee Min Ho has been … Continue reading →
I really want to have a talk with Seolhyun‘s manager because this is such a boneheaded move I can’t even. And don’t tell me the whole “didn’t know” claptrap, anything other than an intentional conjuring rings hollow. AOA’s Seolhyun has been quite the popular young idol last year, with her agency FNC pushing the whole “Next Suzy” bit, but in truth … Continue reading →
It takes a lot to to breakthrough in acting popularity, and that wall is even higher when one is known for playing antagonist characters. That’s the route C-actress Yang Rong has taken but one that has paid off in spades despite playing characters that are totally hateful. It helps that her acting is amazingly nuanced and riveting, managing to infuse … Continue reading →
I know Kang Dong Won is a box office winner and critically acclaimed A-list movie star in Korea, but can he never stop entertaining me with his fashion choices. I’ve now crossed that line between mildly aghast and supremely impressed, which was a big canyon divide to be honest but with Kang Dong Won at the helm not hard to … Continue reading →
When the main leads casting is confirmed mere days after the initial drama offer news broke, that isn’t a bad sign when the acting leads appears keen to sign on. Upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Daebak (Jackpot) will for sure be starring Jang Geun Seok as the male lead, Yeo Jin Goo as his rival, and Lim Ji Yeon as the leading lady. Goes … Continue reading →
I’m so not into Bromance no matter how many people may love it. I’m fine with Baron Chen but Megan Lai has been rubbing me the wrong way with her acting ever since Miss Rose, the way she reads her lines and often looks slightly concussed when trying to act clueless grates for me. I’m waiting for the drama to … Continue reading →
K-actor Ji Chang Wook is yet another 87er who is slated to enter mandatory military service sometime this year, and he hasn’t confirmed his enlistment date so it’s not yet certain what his final acting project will be prior to serving his country. It could end up being C-drama Mr. Right (Chinese title My Male God), which he is filming … Continue reading →
The princes of the C-drama version of Bu Bu Jing Xin were all saddled with the unfortunate Qing dynasty male queue hairstyle, but luckily were sporting colorful luxuriously embroidered threads that befit their royal position and helped to quickly identify each one. Looks like the K-drama version is doing the same as the first picture of the cast in costume … Continue reading →
