I don’t know what this is since it’s brand spanking new and could be a precursor for what is already being deemed a complete shitshow that will be the year end 2022 SBS Drama Awards. There are FOUR top actor/actress that could get the Daesang and three have already aired dramas to rave reviews and ratings. There is Kim Nam … Continue reading →
Waaaaaah, the first look is here! Does it look potentially amazing or nah I’m still not feeling it? Top stars Gong Hyo Jin and Lee Min Ho have been filming sci-fi romance drama Ask the Stars for the last few months but this weekend they posted selfies on SNS that are adorbs! I mean, they look cute and charming together … Continue reading →
When I love a K-drama to bits from the very start, it also imbues me with a stronger sense of anxiety because if the drama takes a turn to dumpsville then it means a lot more to me than if I didn’t care much for the drama to begin with. That’s how I feel each Friday as new episodes of … Continue reading →
This is probably the legal version of Good Doctor and like that drama seems off to a garnering great reviews. ENA cable network drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo (Weird Lawyer Woo Young Woo) premiered this week airing on Wed-Thurs and the first episode got 0.948% ratings but the next night the second episode doubled that to 1.805%. That is extraordinary in … Continue reading →
The K-drama breakouts of 2021 are done and it’s up to those actors and actresses to capitalize on that unique opportunity. We’re nearly halfway done with 2022 and so far there have been few true newbie breakouts and one of them is Kim Min Ha, the female lead of Apple TV+ show Pachinko. It’s an ensemble generational drama but playing … Continue reading →
When I saw the first poster and preview for upcoming tvN drama Adamas, it suddenly reminded me of the fantastic J-dorama Ourorboros. It stems from the use of an ancient figure, the Ouroboros is both Egyptian and Greek and Adamas is a Trojan War character, and from the collaboration of two guys to solve a decades old murder and uncover … Continue reading →
Dang, not only is this drama doing well domestically it’s also rocking on Netflix which has streaming rights. For the week of June 26th Alchemy of Souls reached 10th worldwide which is quite a feat considering it’s a sageuk which has less immediate lure than a modern show. I’m pleased to see Netflix actually promoting it with tweets and now … Continue reading →

C-ent is reporting a big potential casting news this week, the first ever dual female lead big budget period drama. OMG this is a wild collection of K-stars for a variety show, either the PD has made reach or TVing is pouring money into this endeavor. A new variety show will be streaming on TVing in September called Youth MT and the announcement is that the main casts of three popular dramas will be reuniting and heading to the countryside … Continue reading →
If just premiered KBS drama Cafe Minamdang is way more goofy and quirky than expected, then upcoming MBC drama Big Mouth is continues to drop way more serious, action, and dangerous promos than this drama was announced as. Not a bad thing but it’s giving me Mouse crossed with Flower of Evil vibes, and I don’t know if Lee Jong … Continue reading →
Not every drama pick is a success but the track record for Kim Ji Won now says way more successes then meh ones and I’d pick that route for sure. She just finished jTBC drama My Liberation Notes which got rave critic reviews when it premiered and then got audience love plus an increasing ratings trajectory to nearly double in … Continue reading →
So now the main cast of upcoming big budget high profile K-drama Curtain Call (former Tree Dies on Their Feet) is complete. Award winning veteran Youn Yuh Jung was originally tapped to play the matriarch grandmother role and she was one of the first names attached to this drama. But the recent casting confirmations did not mention her and now … Continue reading →
The summer K-drama premieres continue on and this time it’s new KBS Mon-Tues drama Cafe Minamdang dropping to kick off the week. The drama got ratings of 5.7% and 5.6% for its first and second episode ratings, respectively, which is around where predecessor Bloody Heart (Red Single Heart) started off with. I’ve heard good reviews as I haven’t had a … Continue reading →
