Leave it to running-out-of-ideas combined with greedy production companies to piss on a beloved original in order to milk money from the masses through a sequel. Filming has started in Busan for the upcoming My Sassy Girl 2 with the return of Cha Tae Hyun (does he desperately need money?) paired with Victoria of f(x) to represent China and Fuji … Continue reading →
Those of you in living in Greater China will have a fun new movie coming up during the upcoming national holidays in Taiwan and China. The second prequel movie to Black & White will be dropping in the 1st and 2nd of October in China and Taiwan, respectively, with still only Mark Chao reprising his career starting role while Vic … Continue reading →
I am sooooo ready for Yamapi as the teacher falling for a student in the upcoming live-action J-movie adaptation of the popular shoujo manga Kinkyori Renai. There are multiple excitement factors as play for me with respect to Yamashita Tomohisa‘s first movie in three years since Ashita no Joe. That one was also a live-action adaptation of a classic beloved … Continue reading →
As expected, the impending release of Yoo Seung Ho from military service is already generating major industry buzz. Everyone knows one thing for certain, he went in a boy and is coming out a man. Whether or not he’ll have abs to show is irrelevant, he’s officially done with tween or teen roles and is returning to the welcome embraces … Continue reading →
It’s an odd post to write when my initial acting impression of two familiar leads turns out to be flipped around. Perhaps the teaser trailer was cut in a certain way to see famous flower vase C-actress Crystal Liu majorly out-acting her male lead K-actor Rain in their upcoming melo C-movie For Love or Money. The Chinese title is 露水紅顏 which … Continue reading →
The first official look at the upcoming period noir Korean gangster movie Gangnam Blues is out. It likely wouldn’t be high on most viewers’ radar if the drama wasn’t starring Lee Min Ho and would marked a major shift in his acting repertoire. But for fans of K-cinema this movie is high on the must-check-out list because it’s helmed by … Continue reading →
Filming has started on the upcoming C-movie The Third Love starring Song Seung Heon and Crystal Liu based on a popular C-novella. Every time I look around there is some C-novel getting adapted into a drama or movie and it’s probably good that China is so vast that there is probably a deep pipeline of new novels coming out to … Continue reading →
I’m actually quite pleased that both A-list Korean stars Kang Dong Won and Song Hye Kyo are focused almost exclusively in doing movies. I don’t love either one to the point where I want them on the small screen so I can have a few weeks to watch them all the time. Plus I think their star power actually suits movies more, there is … Continue reading →
It’s always a welcome treat to check back in with an actor or actress I like but haven’t seen out in the public eye in awhile. Kim Jae Wook has been relatively low key since his last drama Who Are You wrapped late last Summer. He carried the entire show on his spectral shoulders even if his character didn’t even … Continue reading →
It’s nonstop working for Lee Seung Gi and I can’t complain if it means I get to see more of him in various settings. He wrapped the SBS drama You’re All Surrounded last month in mid-July, a project that shoulda coulda been better if it had a competent screenwriter at the helm. It was such a waste of the entire … Continue reading →
I love mangas but I’m more particular these days about the new titles from mangakas I’ve never heard of with drawing styles that make me miss the good old golden days of the 80’s and 90’s stuff. That’s not to say a good story can’t be hidden in a less attractive drawing style or that I won’t wade through a … Continue reading →
I find it rather hilarious that every time I post about Park Shi Hoo now there will always be the inevitable slew of comments at either end of the schism. On one side are those who need to comment just to express the sentiment of never ever watching anything of his after his rape allegation legal investigation and media circus. … Continue reading →
Bear with me as I lay out all the facts of this started off random and suddenly got even weirder casting call for an upcoming Korean-Chinese collaboration movie. The movie is adapted from a popular online C-novel called Xia Yo Qiao Mu, Ya Wang Tian Tang (夏有乔木，雅望天堂) and really has no meaning other than sounds really elegant in Chinese and … Continue reading →
