The cast of the hottest TW-drama at this moment Office Girls held a fan meeting yesterday in Taipei that was apparently sold out in minutes and had people flying in from other parts of Asia. It was a very casual event with the cast playing games, discussing the drama and filming, and signing posters for all the attendees. I want! … Continue reading →
For a drama based on a manga I don’t like, I’m ridiculously excited about the upcoming Skip Beat live-action adaption. Airing on GTV following In Time With You (LOL, never thought I would actually be excited for ITWY to finish airing), SB stars Ivy Chen with Super Junior’s Choi Siwon and Lee Donghae. The drama is scheduled to premiere in … Continue reading →
Another C-TW-drama held a press conference last week though it’s already in the midst of filming, which appears to be the norm these days. The name of the drama is tentatively called SOP Queen (胜女的代价 which literally translates as The Price of Being a High Powered Single Woman), and stars Chen Qiao En, Hans Zhang (one of the C-version of … Continue reading →
There are even MORE dramas in the pipeline? When I said I wanted to talk about dramas, I didn’t think I’d be drowning in them at some point. The list of K-actors heading overseas to film felt like it jumped exponentially in 2011, and joining the ranks is Kim Jeong Hoon (Goong, I Need Romance), who got out of the … Continue reading →
When watching dramas, I can simply like or dislike based on my immediate reaction. It’s personal and introspective. When writing about dramas, my likes and dislikes take on a life of its own outside my private thought bubble. I’ve noticed people can be offended if it differs from theirs, or find validation when it coincides therewith. That’s fine by me, … Continue reading →
The cast and crew for the upcoming C-drama Fairytale (童话二分之一 which literally translates as 50% of a Fairytale) quietly started shooting the drama in early October without much fanfare despite it’s cross-border cast. Looks like the production company wanted to make a splashy press conference complete with a teaser of the early footage. Starring Janine Chang from Taiwan and Lee … Continue reading →
Jerry Yan, probably the most reluctant A-list leading man in Taiwan what with one project every few years, is finally coming back to the small screen two years after Down with Love. The C-drama My Wonderful Life co-starring Yedda Chen is probably more notable for it being a straight up remake of the hit K-drama Brilliant Legacy/Shining Inheritance. The production recently released … Continue reading →
There are very few TW-dramas set to premiere between now and the end of the year, so clearly it’s time to start looking towards 2012 to see what might be in store. SETTV just announced that it’s started filming on a new drama tentatively called True Love Asks for Trouble (真愛找麻煩). Starring will be Chris Wang (of The Fierce Wife … Continue reading →
It’s totally my fault for not talking more about In Time With You, which is shaping up to be the best drama out of Taiwan in years. I don’t think it’s presumptuous for me to bet on Ariel Lin getting a return nomination for the Golden Bell Awards next year, as well as the drama getting lot of love. Ratings continues … Continue reading →
Wahhhh, could they BE any cuter? Roy Qiu, Alice Ke, and the cast of Office Girls make good on Roy’s promise to wear a dinosaur outfit and drive a Go-Kart around should the ratings for the drama break 5. Rather than let Roy fulfill his promise alone, everyone tagged along and kept him company. Awwww, the camaraderie on that set … Continue reading →
Wow, Sunday night in Taiwan is ON FIRE. This week’s episodes of Office Girls and In Time With You both are raking in the viewers. OG’s ratings broke 5 for the first time (going from 4.68 to 5.21), which is a huge feat since the only three idol dramas to break 5 in any episode this year have been The … Continue reading →
This coming week sees the premiere in China of Rainbow Sweetheart, the C-remake of My Girl from the producers of Hi My Sweetheart and Meteor Garden, starring Jimmy Lin and Cherrie Ying. During the promotional circuit this week, Jimmy has definitively announced that this is his last drama, and will henceforth only do movies if the right script come along. … Continue reading →
Nicky Wu is the one cast member from Bu Bu Jing Xin to experience the most meteoric rise in popularity from the drama, since his performance as 4th Prince was just so unforgettable. He just started filming his next drama, the period investigative Xing Ming Shi Ye adapted from a novel of the same name, co-starring Wallace Huo. Funny enough, … Continue reading →
