Word on the street is that Office Girls will end at 20 episodes, which skews long with respect to SETTV dramas. That means it’s follow up drama will have a mere six weeks to get ready for an early January premiere. This week the rumors I’ve been hearing have finally been confirmed – OG’s follow up drama is tentatively called Dream … Continue reading →
Things on Ethan Ruan‘s not-to-do list, the new number 1 has to be “do not propose to girlfriend in a joking way at a party in front of blabbermouth friends.” Apple Daily has reported, courtesy of several eyewitness accounts at a party recently in Taipei, that longtime couple Ethan and Tiffany Hsu apparently put on an awkward show for their … Continue reading →
What’s better than one Nicky Wu? Two Nickys, of course! I came across another batch of new pictorials from Nicky, who has just been confirmed as a solo performer for the 2012 Lunar New Year event (like the Super Bowl of Chinese television, except without possibly nip slips during the show), which says tons about his resurging popularity since he … Continue reading →
What a difference a big mouth makes. Just days after rumors went fursploding about Rainie Yang and Sunny Wang heading to NYC together on the same flight, the flurry of eyewitness sightings and blabbermouths have pretty much confirmed they ARE in fact dating and went to the US together for Thanksgiving. They were spotted at Kansai airport awaiting their transit … Continue reading →
I make no excuses for raving about Material Queen when it first premiered, waxing in recap after recap about its merits both superficial (its breathtakingly gorgeous) and substantive (tightly plotted story with exhilarating character development). So when it hit a huge plot ditch in episodes 10-11, I took a break from recapping it hoping it would regain its footing and … Continue reading →
This news will make some ArJoe fans rejoice. Much as I think Ariel Lin is never going to end up in real life with another actor (she’s never dated any of her co-stars or anyone in the entertainment industry since she debuted), she has such explosive and brilliant chemistry with ALL her male co-stars there are legions of Ariel fans … Continue reading →
I hope all the Bu Bu Jing Xin fans have finally returned to a semblance of their normal lives. I know I have, but having a sister just recently marathon her way through it and then wanting to discuss it at length does resurrect all my feelings for this wonderful drama. My scene recaps just naturally came to a halt … Continue reading →
We’ve got another Taiwan idol drama baking in the oven. The production company for the currently airing Ring Ring Bell will be partnering with CTS for the upcoming drama I Love You So Much (Chinese title is the laughably lame ç²‰æ„›ç²‰æ„›ä½ , which is a pun for I love you so much but using the characters for putting on make up), … Continue reading →
I’m about to get on a flight (flying while hung over is thankfully not a crime) so depending on whether my flight has WiFi, I may have to gnaw on my arms until I land to watch the latest episode of Office Girls. My outbound flight claimed to have WiFi, but the lying liars did not in fact have it, … Continue reading →
This weekend sees the premiere of yet another highly anticipated C-drama, the remake of the K-drama Shining Inheritance/Brilliant Legacy, this time starring Jerry Yan and Yedda Chen. I posted the two official MVs from the drama here, which made it look decent even if it doesn’t arouse my urge to watch a drama based on one I’ve already seen and … Continue reading →
Good lord, that is like the cutest poster for a rom-com drama, but why must it be paired with the worst possible English title on the planet? Did CTS have no one on staff who has more than an elementary schooler’s comprehension of English? The upcoming TW-drama, which I initially translated the title literally as True Love Asks for Trouble … Continue reading →
In Time With You may not be close to winning the ratings crown in the Sunday night battle with Office Girls, but it’s gotten very solid ratings along with exceptional critical acclaim. The cast and crew should feel very proud. My own personal problems with ITWY stem purely from the writing and I’m thrilled to see Ariel Lin and Bolin … Continue reading →
This may be a one-off post, perhaps an ongoing series, or maybe once in a blue moon when I’m drunk and bitter. Recently I’ve been quietly watching some dramas that aren’t just bad (and stupid), it’s unbelievably so much so that I can’t even call it a guilty pleasure drama. I ended up watching these dramas for a variety of … Continue reading →
