There has been commentary in the past for both Zhang Jing Yi and Chen Zhe Yuan that both have modern faces and thus look out of place in period dramas. Of course both have done period dramas before to varying degrees of success and are now teaming up for the recently started filming drama Chasing Dreams (Meng Hua Ting 梦花廷) … Continue reading →
So soon was supposed to be this month in December 2024, but could be in January or even February of next year in 2025. I’m talking about Moonlight Mystique, the xianxia C-drama starring Bai Lu and Ao Rui Peng with supporting leads Dai Lu Wa and Chang Hua Sen. The next two weeks feels like an open period with no … Continue reading →
Alrighty, it looks like we’re getting more details for upcoming period C-drama Guardians of the Dafeng with Dylan Wang and Tian Xi Wei. The drama will have 40-episodes which is nice, that means the regulators didn’t find much fluff to force cut and also Tencent is all in with this drama at the max length. The airing date is tentatively … Continue reading →
There is no clearer way to indicate that the first drama in a trilogy was a flop than the second chapter changing its name to get as far away from it as possible. With that said, all three chapters of the Fox Spirit Matchmaker stories same a common world building and mythology so I’m not sure how this will work … Continue reading →
Oh wow, I’m actually getting interested in this C-drama now. The First Frost is adapted from the novel First Frost which is the companion novel to Hidden Love which got an adaptation last year. This story is about the older brother of the female lead character in Hidden Love and his own romance. The First Frost stars Bai Jing Ting … Continue reading →
Lol, I love it when I have to ear my own words. And in this case it’s happily though of course solely in this context. The teaser concept posters are out for C-drama Rebirth (also called Frozen Awakening) starring Li Yun Rui and Huang Yang Tian Tian in the direct sequel to Princess Agents. Literally, this drama picks up from … Continue reading →
I actually think Zhao Lu Si acted decently in The Story of Pearl Girl, her performance was not even in my top 10 of complaints with the drama. But the drama is a flop for sure now, with the amount of money put in and advertising dollars vis-a-vis the reception, reviews, and viewership. A week after the drama finished its … Continue reading →
The months long filming is reportedly close to a wrap for xianxia C-drama Love Beyond the Grave. Starring Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Fei Yu, the drama got way more coverage for her fans being upset with her so-called “unattractive costumes, hair, and makeup” and lodging complaints and a full scale protest. Reportedly the production tried to ignore then but ended … Continue reading →
Of course we’re getting one more blossom in the title C-drama before year end, and this one from the dull as dishwater English title and the lead cast interests me zero at all but sharing in case others are curious. The period C-drama Blossom (九重紫 Jiu Chong Zi) is adapted from the same name novel and stars Meng Zi Yi … Continue reading →
Okay, talk about burying the lede here with this drama lol. Period C-drama Shadow Love (与晋长安 Yu Jing Chang An) with Song Yi and Cheng Lei just looked like a female general kicking ass and her romance with another male general/king and that was good enough for me to be interested. Then I watched the first preview was like what-tha-wut?!? … Continue reading →
Well, here’s another one that can be skipped, unless the reviews get better which is always a possibility. Earlier in the year another female lead becomes business head to save the family drama Blossoms in Adversity also premiered to poor reviews but really turned the tide as the drama went on. But for now Brocade Odyssey which premiered this past … Continue reading →
I like that C-drama production often release first concept posters right at the start of filming. It gives viewers an idea of what the leads will look like and a feel for the mood the production is going for. Modern romance C-drama Shine on Me adapted from a Gu Man novel titled Blazing Sunlight was one of the big IP … Continue reading →
So there is already drama on the set of just started filming C-drama Star Trails (Xuang Gui 双轨 or Double Track). And this time it’s not on the billing order lol. The leads are Yu Shu Xin with He Yu but word from the set is that the director abruptly left and a new director has been hastily brought in. … Continue reading →
