When Zhao Jin Mai and Zhang Ling He was cast last year in period C-drama The Princess Royale I and probably most C-drama viewers would never have expected them to have a CP breakout together from it. It’s rarer and rarer for a C-drama romance pairing to generate the CP love because the two have to knock it out of … Continue reading →
So the Chinese title is more memorable if you ask me, it’s called Tree of Life and I’ve written about it before as a drama that was going to Yang Zi as the female lead. But she’s since moved on to Family Business as her next drama and now this drama, which has the English title Born to be Alive, … Continue reading →
October 2024 is fast becoming loaded with new period C-dramas. Last week there was Snowy Night Timeless Love with Li Qin and Zeng Shun Xi and also The Rise of Ning with Zhang Wan Yi and Ren Min. Next week is reportedly Kill Me Love Me with Liu Xue Yi and Wu Jin Yan. There may be more but the … Continue reading →
So complaining by fans does work lol, but at least gets some adjustments made. Fans of Dilraba Dilmurat went on an angry online attack last month when the first filming pictures came out from the set of xianxia C-drama Love Beyond the Grave showing her with heavy makeup and overly ornate costumes and excessive accessories. Her fans were pissed at … Continue reading →
I feel like Tang Yan and her next drama Lady Liberty is trying to capture the same hit and zeitgeist that Crystal Liu did with her The Tale of Rose, big name female lead centric with multiple big name male leads in sectional stories woven through her life. Nothing wrong with that and it’s nice to have her get her … Continue reading →
C-actress Wang Yu Wen is turning into a modern light drama hitmakers, and worth it for production companies as she’s not A-list so her salary isn’t astronomical and she takes mid-budget projects and delivers financial wins for the investors thanks to good viewership. Her recent modern drama You Are My Lover Friend (舍不得星星) with Zhang Xin Cheng just ended this … Continue reading →
Lol, when drama follows a person ALL THE TIME, maybe it’s not just luck but the person himself in this case producer Yu Zheng just can’t stop creating and receiving drama. A day after he proudly introduced his new actress signing to his agency a former social media star named Zhang Shi Tou, he’s had to pivot and turn into … Continue reading →
Hhhhmmm, I’ll believe this when I see it, or at least when I see more promos drop in the coming days. New rumor this week has it that Youku will air Kill Me Love Me sometime next week in mid-October. Starring Wu Jin Yan and Liu Xue Yi, it’s as good a time to air it since both had small … Continue reading →
So a bit of levity and curiosity for this week courtesy of C-ent producer Yu Zheng. He posted a fawning SNS update this week introducing a new actress he signed to his agency, gushing over her beauty and how he wasn’t planning to sign anyone else since he added four rookies this year already but couldn’t pass her up because … Continue reading →
So this is like a High Noon standoff and I’m fascinated on the eventual outcome. Top C-actress Sun Li started filming a new thriller modern C-drama with award winning TW-actor Chris Wu (Wu Kang Ren) in his first foray into C-ent. She’s filmed for over two weeks but then went on strike (did not officially drop out of the drama) … Continue reading →
I think snow might be a major character in the upcoming wuxia C-drama Snowy Night: Timeless Love (Seven Nights Snow) since the whole backdrop of the snowy valley and cold nights is so prominently featured in all the promos for this drama. iQiyi has scheduled Snowy Night: Timeless Love for next week October 9th premiere so it’s nice to have … Continue reading →
So this is NO SURPRISE whatsoever for anyone following the exploits of C-ent troll producer Yu Zheng, master of his own universe and deliverer of actual hits and stars from time to time. Recently his top actor Xu Kai re-upped his contract with his agency, mainly due to inertia and a lack of ambition but also an awareness that Yu … Continue reading →
TW-actor Chris Wu (Wu Kang Ren) has been a fave of mind since he debuted nearly two decades ago and he’s become so established and award winning I would compare him to the TW-ent version of K-ent’s Namgoong Min. In those years he’s worked only in Taiwan but that’s changed now as he signed with a Mainland Chinese agency last … Continue reading →
