Imagine a delicious sundae with fragrant vanilla ice cream, warm and rich hot fudge, home made whipped cream, and salty Mexican peanuts. All the flavors and textures blend for a lovely sensual experience. Like most treats that please, your familiarity with the tastes doesn’t make it any less wonderful, right? Now pretend it has no calories and that the dish … Continue reading →
My love for the phenomenal acting combination of Kang Ji Hwan and Jung So Min in Big Man keeps growing and growing like the ratings of the drama itself. It’s never going to be a major hit but a drama with steadily climbing ratings likely makes the cast comforted that the audience likes it enough that more people are tuning … Continue reading →
Looks like it’s back to the waiting board for two long finished drama adaptations of Tong Hua novels. It’s been over two years since Da Mo Yao (Ballad of the Desert which is now called Song of the Desert) was filmed and over a year since its sequel Yun Zhong Ge (Song in the Clouds) wrapped production. Both were supposed … Continue reading →
Some folks may be bothered by the lack of things making sense (vis-a-vis the real world) in Dr. Stranger, but the drama has been like that since its inception and never strayed from the formula of being wacky and all the more fun because of it. The hint of torture porn element in episode 1 what with the hospital of dissection … Continue reading →
I find the character set-up in Big Man quite odd in the sense that the pairings are off has extended to the promotion for the drama featuring Jung So Min and Daniel Choi posing together in a recent issue of Allure Korea magazine. Don’t get me wrong, I freaking love this photo spread with a 60’s theme presented in an … Continue reading →
When a giant lot of brand spankin’ new pictures of the gorgeous leads of the most anticipated Summer dramas falls into my lap, I can’t be faulted for combining it into one post for convenience sake. Right? Now you’re one click away from Nam Sang Mi in her first sageuk Joseon Gunman starring Lee Jun Ki, whose first official stills … Continue reading →
You’re All Surrounded has settled into a nice watchable cadence. Not good and mostly mediocre, but the lighter touch renders the proceedings inoffensively easy to swallow and sometimes even leaves a nice aftertaste. Ultimately it’s a drama only made worth watching for the involvement of Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won, other than them the rest is simply filler … Continue reading →
The June issue of InStyle Korea manages the feat of incorporating four of my favorite things all in one handy spread. Park Shin Hye was in New York City last month to attend the Dramefever Awards and managed to squeeze in a lovely photo shoot for InStyle Korea. I adore NYC and its sidewalks and cityscape so it’s already a treat … Continue reading →
Trusty ol’ K-tabloid Sports Seoul is at it again in the forefront of breaking K-celeb dating news. Or maybe it’s less “breaking” then being part of a well engineered roll out of a couple going public. This one doesn’t include any idols and involves two very well known actors (and also tanks a massively shipped drama couple ship). Gong Hyo Jin and … Continue reading →
A relatively calm and uneventful episode of You’re All Surrounded plops me squarely into investigative territory. This drama is mediocre on all levels now to the point of actually coming across like a series of stepping stones leading to the flashing neon lights of an ending. The journey lacks a meaningful view nor is it daunting enough to pay attention … Continue reading →
Lee Bum Soo is starting to get an additional reputation boost not just as an amazing actor in his own right, but also doing the impossible task of making everyone acting around him better including some pretty hopeless idols. Right after turning Yoona into a legit leading lady, and erasing their age and height difference disparity in Prime Minister and … Continue reading →
Casting has been confirmed and is complete for the next big sageuk movie to start production shortly. It’s not a new story by any means and the movie Sado will instead be yet another dramatic re-telling of the infamous life of Crown Prince Sado of the Joseon era. There have been plenty of K-dramas dealing with the era in and … Continue reading →
After yesterday’s slap upside the head with the casting of Yunho alongside Jung Il Woo in the upcoming supernatural sageuk Records of a Night Watchman, today MBC goes all out and finalizes the leading cast perhaps to keep the shrieks of “noooooo” going until the wailing ceases because everyone is exhausted. Yunho is a done deal so either watch or … Continue reading →
