My cutie pie Kang Min Hyuk has been a very very busy boy these past few months. I already liked him passably after watching him in Heartstrings years ago but that mild like turned to full blown love after he stood out in Heirs as the sole male lead I didn’t want to punch in the face and turning in … Continue reading →
Loving the totally underrated Miss Korea makes a drama watcher’s job just that much harder. This drama is like MBC‘s forgotten step-child or something, despite the fact that its heads above the other dramas airing on the network in terms of quality. I can’t ever find anything new about it during the week wait between episodes and the network drops … Continue reading →
This is far and away the best casting confirmation in a busy K-ent news day filled with lots of casting reveals. The Spring weekend dramas are lining up its leads with Lee Dong Wook reuniting with his My Girl co-star Lee Da Hae in Hotel King, up against the totally random pairing of Lee Sang Yoon with Gu Hye Sun … Continue reading →
With the weekend dramas Golden Rainbow and Thrice Married Woman well into its airings, the networks are finally getting down to business of locking down the main leads for the follow up dramas. Today both MBC and SBS dropped casting news but it’s not exactly double the happiness when I heard it. I’ll do the happiness inducing good news first … Continue reading →
I get that the public has opinions about the dating choices of celebrities by dint of living in the public eye. At least it’s just opinions and not some sort of referendum whereby the dating couple actually needs to get married and/or break up based on public sentiment in favor or against certain couplings. I have such a soft spot … Continue reading →
Park Shin Hye is hard for me not to love even if her roles have been hit-and-miss. She’s still young but picks different projects and tries hard each and every time. Her all-natural looks, which look exactly the same as when she debuted at age 13 in Stairway to Heaven in 2003, is so easy on the eyes and a … Continue reading →
I try to refrain from overusing the word awesome but nothing quite describes episode 12 of In A Good Way as much as screaming out “It was so awesome!!!” and then making victory fist pumps. The Taiwan domestic audience thought so as well and after sitting in the 2s for the last ten episodes the drama surged dramatically and broke … Continue reading →
New C-drama alert and this one looks interesting enough to catch my eye. Filming has just started for the period 1930’s Shanghai drama called Cruel Romance (Chinese title 锦绣缘华丽冒险 The Destiny of Jin Xiu’s Extravagant Adventure) starring C-actor Huang Xiaoming and TW-actress Chen Qiao En. Huang Xiaoming has been exclusively doing movies for the last five years though this past year in … Continue reading →
Sometimes posts just write itself based on news releases so it’s not a concerted decision to do two back-to-back Kim Soo Hyun posts. Kim Soo Hyun recently added Samsonite Red luggage and bags to his list of endorsements, taking over for Song Joong Ki who is currently out of commission and serving in the army. Choosing Kim Soo Hyun to take … Continue reading →
Who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth, even if its totally out-of-the-blue. Acting-limited Suzy will be making a cameo appearance in the ratings bonanza popular hit SBS drama You From Another Star, reuniting her with her Dream High leading man Kim Soo Hyun and effectively turning me into a pile of mushy nostalgic goo. There are tons … Continue reading →
Kang Ji Hwan has worked equally with all three major television networks in Korea but for the last 6 years he’s only done SBS dramas. None of them have been as big of a hit for him as some of his iconic roles such as in the KBS fusion sageuk Hong Gil Dong or the MBC daily Be Strong Geum Soon. Back in … Continue reading →
This week’s Empress Ki will air only 1 episode thanks to the preemption for the Olympics. It’s a bit of a shame because I feel like the drama is really getting to the meat and potatoes of its story. The ascension of Seung Nyang from a warrior maiden into a calculating and determined Empress is every bit as interesting as … Continue reading →
I’m so glad Miss Korea turned out to be a 20-episode drama otherwise I’d be suffering a double dose of withdrawal symptoms if it wrapped up last week at the same time as Prime Minister and I. Miss Korea’s follow up drama Cunning Single Lady with Joo Sang Wook and Lee Min Jung is gearing up for a premiere in … Continue reading →
